ドルトムントで若くして大ブレイクを果たしたゲッツェは、2013年夏にバイエルンに加入。絶対王者の一員となると、2013年から2016年の間にチームの指揮を執ったジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督の下、美しいサッカーを展開したバイエルンでも輝きを放っていた。

そんなゲッツェは、2014年12月10日に行われた、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)グループステージのCSKAモスクワ戦では、守りを固める相手に対して素晴らしい崩しからのゴールを決めている。

2-0とバイエルンリードの90分、相手ボックスの右手前でボールを持ったFWアリエン・ロッベンが、中央のゲッツェに預ける。ゲッツェは相手を引きつけつつ、再びロッベンにボールを渡すと、ロッベンの裏へと走り込む。

ロッベンがFWロベルト・レヴァンドフスキに出したボールは相手にブロックされるも、これがちょうど裏へ抜け出していたゲッツェへのパスとなる。フリーでボールを持ったゲッツェがこれをしっかりとゴール左に決め、ダメ押しの3点目を奪った。

運も味方したものの、中央に人数をかける相手の守備をこじ開けて決めた見事なゴールとなった。
