元日本代表FW大久保嘉人氏(42)が家族ぐるみでスペインへ渡ることを発表した。

かつて香川真司(PAOK)や乾貴士(エイバル)を大きく伸ばしたレヴィー・クルピ監督を8年ぶりに呼び戻し、攻撃サッカーを鮮明にしたスタイルへの転換を図っているセレッソ大阪。2月前半の宮崎キャンプでは、J1昇格組の徳島ヴォルティスに2-1、J2のファジアーノ岡山に8-4で勝利。まずまずの調整を続けている様子だ。 昨季途中にブレイクした豊川雄太や新加入の加藤睦次樹、大久保嘉人らアタッカー陣の選手層が厚くなる傍らで、マテイ・ヨニッチ(上海申花)、木本恭生(名古屋)、片山瑛一(清水)が抜けた守備陣の方はやや不安視されている。コンサドーレ札幌から獲得した日本代表歴のある進藤亮佑の復帰が遅れており、鳥海晃司も負傷。新戦力・チアゴが入国できずにいて、センターバック(CB)の人材不足は深刻と言っていい。 苦境を跳ね除けるべく、2020年JリーグYBCルヴァンカップ・ニューヒーロー賞とベストヤングプレーヤー賞をダブル受賞した瀬古歩夢には、「守備の大黒柱」として大いに奮起してもらうしかない。 「大変光栄な賞をいただいて、今後もっともっと頑張らなければいけないと思いました」と昨年12月21日の会見時にも責任感を強めている様子だった。彼の一挙手一投足がクルピ新体制のチームの成否を左右するだけに、プロ4年目となる今季はより安定感ある仕事を見せる必要があるのだ。 小学校時代からセレッソ生え抜きのCBは、U-15所属だった中学生の頃からJFAエリートプログラムU-14に選ばれる逸材だった。森山佳郎監督率いるU-15日本代表も発足時から名を連ね、2016年AFC・U-16選手権(インド)に参戦。2017年U-17ワールドカップ(W杯=インド)はケガで棒に振ったものの、2019年U-20W杯(ポーランド)は最終ラインの主力に君臨し、ベスト16進出に貢献した。 同年にはミゲル・アンヘル・ロティーナ監督からレギュラーに抜擢され、コンスタントにJリーグに出場するようになる。「オールラウンドの能力を備えたCBとして順調に育ち、いずれは日の丸を背負ってほしい」というクラブの期待に応えるような順調な軌跡を歩んできたのだ。 しかしながら、親友でライバルの菅原由勢(AZ)や鈴木冬一(ローザンヌ)が自分より早く海外へ移籍。瀬古の中には焦りと悔しさが色濃く残ったという。 「仲のいいユキナリが欧州CL予選とかCLに出て、さらにはA代表入りしたことは正直、悔しい。冬一にも負けたくない」と彼は複雑な胸中を吐露したことがあった。 サイドバックを主戦場とする2人は海外移籍の門戸を開きやすいが、2m級の高さと屈強な肉体を誇る選手がズラリと並ぶCBの海外挑戦のハードルは高い。それでも吉田麻也(サンプドリア)や冨安健洋(ボローニャ)のような成功例があるのも確か。2人にあって瀬古にないものを考えてみると、語学力を含めた海外適応力とインテリジェンスではないか。 もともとヤンチャ気質の関西人で、ピッチ外では破天荒な行動も少なくなかったという彼のことを「松田直樹2世」と称するセレッソ関係者もいた。だが、それは10代までの話。20歳になり、人間的にも落ち着いてきた今の彼なら十分に吉田と冨安の背中を追えるだけのポテンシャルがある。 「2020年に2つの賞をいただいて、僕個人として恥じないプレーをしなければいけないと思う。セレッソのリーグ優勝、個人としてはベストイレブン、MVPを目指してやっていきたい」と高みを目指す気持ちがより一層、強まったのは朗報だ。 意識改革の1つのきっかけになったのは、昨季までの2年間、マテイ・ヨニッチとコンビを組んだこと。2020年J1で3人だけだったフィールドプレーヤーのフルタイム出場者であるクロアチア人CBの落ち着きと迫力、安定感は瀬古の大きな指標となった。 「ヨニッチは経験豊富ですし、横にいるだけで勉強になる。ああいうドシっとした面構えのDFになりたい」と羨望の眼差しで見つめていた。名手の立ち振る舞いを間近で体感し、自分の糧にしてきたことで、2020年の瀬古は大いに輝いた。9月13日の横浜F・マリノス戦ではエリキの決定的シュート場面を確実に阻止するなど、要所要所で活躍。10月24日の浦和レッズ戦では2失点に絡むミスを犯しながらも、後々まで引きずることなくすぐに立ち直って本来のパフォーマンスを取り戻した。心身両面で一段階二段階ステップアップした今だからこそ、セレッソ守備陣の大黒柱になれるに違いない。 「2019年はディエゴ・オリヴェイラ(FC東京)のような外国人選手に1対1でやられる場面が多かったですけど、自分なりに考えて対処できるようになったし、負ける回数も減ったと思います。でもまだプレーの質は足りない。ビルドアップのタテパスだったりは磨かないといけない部分。チームへの声掛けやコーチングなどやるべきことをしっかりやって、東京五輪をつかみたいと思います」 昨年末にこう語気を強めた瀬古。五輪開催可否は依然として流動的ではあるが、その先にはA代表も2022年カタールW杯もある。日の丸をつけ、勇敢に海外の強豪国と渡り合う瀬古を見る日も近いはず。吉田、冨安に追いつけ追い越せ精神で、名前の通り、力強く歩み、大いなる夢をつかんでほしいものである。 2021.02.16 11:50 Tue

J1最多191ゴールのFW大久保嘉人が20年間の現役生活を引退「苦しいことが一番多かった」
