シティ女子最多出場、イングランド女子代表DFステフ・ホートンが今季限りで現役引退「私の人生はフットボールを中心に回っている」
マンチェスター・シティは27日、元イングランド女子代表DFステファニー・ホートン(35)が今シーズン限りで現役を引退することを発表した。 サンダーランドでトップチームキャリアをスタートさせたホートンは、リーズ・ユナイテッド(リーズ・カーネギー時代含む)を経て、2010年にアーセナルへ加入。FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)2度の優勝を含む7つのタイトルを獲得し、シティへは2014年1月に加入した。 シティの選手として初めてクラブ通算100試合出場を達成しただけでなく、リーグ史上初の150試合出場と100勝も達成。在籍中にはFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)の年間最優秀イレブンに2度選出されるなど、シティでも8つの主要トロフィーを獲得。10年間でクラブ史上最多となる241試合に出場している。 イングランド女子代表としてもキャプテンを務めるなど121キャップを刻み、イギリス女子代表としても東京オリンピック2020を含む8試合に出場している。 シチズンズとライオネスのレジェンドは、決断に際し、クラブのインタビューで次のような言葉を残している。 「4、5歳のころからボールを蹴っていたので、この決断は簡単ではありませんでした」 「私という人間をご存知かと思いますが、私の人生はすべてフットボールを中心に回っています。特に、ここマンチェスターに来てからは、夫にも出会い、自分にできるすべてを捧げてきました」 「メンタル的には新たな挑戦を楽しみに思う部分と、今はちょっと疲れたなと思う部分があります。この数年は慌ただしかったですからね」 「家族や友人、代理人ともたくさんの話をして、(決断を下すのは)ちょうどいい時期なのかなと感じました」 「それを公に伝える必要がありましたし、今が適切な時期だと感じています。どのようなことでも、何か新しいことを学ぶ準備ができていますし、これまでの旅に感謝もしています」 「それから、私の体は大丈夫ですが、他にもやってみたいことや、家族ともっと時間を過ごしたいという思いもありますね」 2024.03.29 16:10 Fri

リーズの正GKメリエが退団を希望、ユナイテッドら強豪3クラブが関心か
リーズ・ユナイテッドのU-21フランス代表GKイラン・メリエ(23)がステップアップを望んでいるようだ。イギリス『フットボール・インサイダー』が伝えている。 メリエは2020年7月にロリアンからリーズへ加入。1年目から定位置を固めると、2年目の昨シーズンはプレミアリーグの全38試合にフルタイム出場を果たし、今シーズンもここまでの全30試合に出場している。 一方で、リーズは昨シーズン同様に苦しい残留争いを強いられており、仮にもチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)降格となれば、メリエや元スペイン代表FWロドリゴ・モレノ(32)といった複数の主力選手の売却もあり得るとされる。 そんななかでメリエ本人はチームが残留か降格かにかかわらず退団を希望。リーズは4000万ポンド(約66億2000万円)の値札をつけ、マンチェスター・ユナイテッド、トッテナム、チェルシーが関心を寄せているという。 メリエはプレミアリーグ残留をノルマとし、決して強豪とは言えないリーズで通算122試合に出場して199失点。その一方、30試合でクリーンシートを達成している。その能力はビッグクラブ間で少なからず評価されているようだ。 2023.04.14 19:53 Fri

リーズ・ユナイテッドは5日、スタッド・レンヌに所属するブラジル人FWラフィーニャ(23)の獲得を発表した。契約期間は2024年夏まで。背番号は「18」を着用する。 ラフィーニャは2016年2月に母国クラブのアヴァイからギマランエス移籍を果たして欧州挑戦。その後、スポルティング・リスボンを経て、昨夏からスタッド・レンヌに活躍の場を移した。初の5大リーグ挑戦だったが、加入初年度から公式戦35試合に出場して7得点5アシストの活躍を披露して、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)出場権獲得に貢献。今季もリーグ・アン開幕から6試合に出場して、1得点2アシストを記録した。 プレミアリーグデビューを控えるラフィーニャはクラブ公式サイトを通じて、「この機会とクラブが示してくれた僕への信頼に本当に満足している。自分らしいプレーでクラブの信頼に応えていきたい。ここに来れて本当に嬉しいし、少しでもクラブの歴史に名前を残せたらと思っている」と喜びを語った。 なお、イギリス『BBC』によると、移籍金1700万ポンド(約23億3000万円)+インセンティブにおよぶ取引額でのリーズ入りだという。 2020.10.06 10:40 Tue

【レジェンドチーム回顧】プレミアを席巻したオレアリー率いる“ヤング・リーズ”〜2000-2001〜
