シント=トロイデンの岡崎慎司が、カタール・ワールドカップに向けて日本代表にエールを送っている。11月1日、カタールW杯に臨む日本代表メンバーが発表された。26名のメンバーは順当な顔ぶれが揃った中、岡崎とチームメイトのシュミット・ダニエルも選出された。
ここ数年の日本代表のレギュラー格だった原口元気や大迫勇也らの落選には多少驚きの声も挙がったものの、選ばれし26名についてはサプライズなし。
だが、そんな中でも岡崎は代表入りを信じていたようだ。2018年に発足した森保一体制以降、119キャップを数える同選手が代表に招集されたのは、2019年のコパ・アメリカのみ。グループステージ敗退に終わったその大会を最後に招集歴はない。
それでも26名のメンバー発表が終わるまで諦めていなかったという岡崎。過去3大会に出場した往年のレジェンドは、今度は応援側として全力を尽くすことを約束した。

ラス・パルマスがルイス・カリオン氏を新監督に招へい…昨季はレアル・オビエドで指揮
