いかなる人物にも適材適所というものがあることをイングランド代表FWブカヨ・サカが身をもって教えてくれた。現在開催中のユーロ2020では、グループステージ最終節のチェコ代表戦で初出場し、試合を決めた先制点の起点となる好プレーを披露したサカ。しかし、ひとたびピッチを離れるとそんな19歳も凡人に成り下がってしまうようだ。
話題となっているのは代表でキャプテンを務めるDFハリー・マグワイアが自身のインスタグラムに投稿したある動画。サカはシミュレーションゴルフでこれからティーショットを打つようだ。
しかしこの19歳、クラブとボールの距離感を合わせたまではいいものの、肝心のスイングはピッチ上での堂々としたプレーからは想像がつかないほど縮こまったもので、イギリス『サン』は「奇妙なほど短いスイング」と揶揄。
もちろん、ドライバーはボールに当たることなく空振り。全くヒットする気配のないひっぺりごしには、申し訳ないが普段とのギャップもあって笑いを抑えるのは不可能だ。
マグワイアによれば、29日に控えるラウンド16のドイツ代表戦までの空いた時間にチームメイトを連れてゴルフを嗜む予定とのこと。DFジョン・ストーンズやDFカイル・ウォーカー、DFキーラン・トリッピアー、GKジョーダン・ピックフォードらが参加するというが、おそらくサカはお呼ばれしないだろう。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

ブリッジは“不倫男”テリーを未だに許さず? 自身の近くに引っ越し発覚後、自宅を売却に出す

「泣きながら電話した」アルコール依存症に苦しむ元イングランド代表ガスコイン氏が家を出て居候に、それでも闘病に決意「戦い続ける」
