クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS) とナイキは18日、クロアチア代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。
2022年のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で3位という結果を残したクロアチア。6月に開幕するユーロ2024の予選では苦しみ、同グループのトルコ代表に後れを取ったものの、2位で突破。本大会では、スペイン代表、イタリア代表、アルバニア代表と同居する“死の組”グループBに入っている。
そのユーロでも着用する新ユニフォームだが、1stユニフォームは大きくイメージチェンジ。クロアチアといえば、白と赤の市松模様が特徴だが、今回は赤と白の四角形がこれまでで最大となり、大胆な外観となっている。
一方の2ndユニフォームは、クラシックなスタイルに現代的なひねりを加え、青と紺の2色を組み合わせた市松模様を斜めの四角形で表現。これは、3位という結果を残した1998年のフランスW杯のメンバーに敬意を表しているという。
ファンの注目は、やはり市松模様が大きくなった1stユニフォームに向けられることに。「素晴らしい」、「際立っている」という意見もあるものの、「史上最悪のデザインだ」、「センスがない」、「ポーランドのユニフォームに見えた」、「これ以上酷いものは見たことがない」、「これは恥ずかしい」などと否定的な意見が大半となっている。

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のラウンド16に臨む日本代表が、クロアチア代表戦のスターティングメンバーを発表した。
7大会連続7度目のW杯出場となった日本。新しい景色としてベスト8以上の結果を目標に設定して臨んだ大会では、ドイツ代表、スペイン代表と同居したグループステージで両国に勝利を収め、グループ首位でラウンド16に駒を進めた。
そのラウンド16の相手はクロアチア。1998年のフランスW杯、2006年のドイツW杯と2度本大会で対戦したことがあり、1分け1敗という成績。さらに、2018年の前回大会でクロアチアは準優勝の成績を残しており、日本にとってはまたしても難しい相手との試合となった。
その日本は、[3-4-2-1]のシステムを採用すると予想。GKに権田修一(清水エスパルス)を4試合連続で起用。最終ラインにはDF冨安健洋(アーセナル)が初先発。DF吉田麻也(シャルケ)、DF谷口彰悟(川崎フロンターレ)、DF長友佑都(FC東京)が並んだ。なお、DF板倉滉(ボルシアMG)は出場停止となる。
ボランチにはMF遠藤航(シュツットガルト)とMF守田英正(スポルティングCP)が入り、攻撃的なポジションにはMF鎌田大地(フランクフルト)、MF伊東純也(スタッド・ランス)、そして今大会2ゴールのMF堂安律(フライブルク)を起用。1トップにFW前田大然(セルティック)という並びになった。
なお、体調不良で練習を欠席していた久保建英(レアル・ソシエダ)はメンバー外となっている。
新しい景色まではあと1つ。クロアチアという巨大な壁を乗り越えられるか。試合は24時にキックオフを迎える。

クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS)は15日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用する新ユニフォームを発表した。
2018年のロシアW杯では決勝に進出。フランスの前に惜しくも敗れ、準優勝に終わっていた。
ファイナリストとして今大会に臨むクロアチア。そのW杯で着用するホームとアウェイのユニフォームが発表された。
ナイキが手がけるクロアチアのユニフォーム。ホームは燃えるようなハートをテーマにインスパイアされたもので、代表チームの情熱的で勤勉で燃えるようなキャラクターを表している。
クロアチアといえば、白と赤の市松模様が特徴だが、今回はそれを不均等に配置。胸のあたりはポッカリと空き、白が大きく面積を取っている。このデザインは「真の爽快感」をもたらすとしている。
アウェイユニフォームは自然の美しさと国家の誇りを象徴。濃い青がベースにターコイズの配色。左の肩口には、ターコイズ部分はぼやけた波状の線が入り、市松模様に。この波は、クロアチアの海岸に打ち寄せるアドリア海の潮に似せているという。
また、名前や背番号はクロアチアの歴史的なグラゴル文字にインスパイアされているという。
キャプテンのルカ・モドリッチ(レアル・マドリー)は新ユニフォームについて「美しいクロアチアのジャージを最も多く着ることができたことを非常に誇りに思っている」とコメント。デザインについては「新しいデザインは1998年と僕の世代に影響を与えた伝説的なチームを少し思い出させる」とし、「アウェイジャージの魅力的なデザインと魅力的な色が本当に好きだ。これが僕たちのファンの間で非常に人気があると確信している」と印象を語っていた。
新ユニフォームに対してファンの反応は様々だが、ホームに対しては「なんでバラバラ?」、「仕上げるのやめたのか」、「伝統が破られた」、「ショックを受けた」、「史上最悪のジャージ」、「言葉が無駄になる」と不均衡なデザインが公表されている。
アウェイに対しては「ウォーミングアップジャージ?」、「安物に見える」という悪い意見もある一方で、「アウェイは悪くない」、「素晴らしい」、「ホームよりは全然マシ」、「ホームより100倍良い」と好意的な意見が多く寄せられている。

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で日本代表を破ったクロアチア代表。準優勝に輝いた4年前のロシア大会に続き、3位と躍進を遂げた。
そんなクロアチアをキャプテンとして引っ張ったのがMFルカ・モドリッチだ。ロシア大会でもキャプテンとしてクロアチアを牽引して大会最優秀選手(MVP)のゴールデンボール賞に選ばれたモドリッチは、今大会でも獅子奮迅の活躍を見せていた。
クロアチア代表として歴代最多出場記録を持つモドリッチだが、その際に行われた記者会見では妻のバーニャさんとの微笑ましいエピソードを持っている。
バーニャさんだけなく、父のスティペさんなど、モドリッチの人生に深く携わる人たちが出席した会見。終始笑顔にあふれていたが、バーニャさんから「いつプレーをやめるのですか?」と鋭い質問が飛んだのだ。
モドリッチは苦笑いを浮かべながら、「(答えるのは)簡単ではないね!わからない、それは僕の愛だ。僕たちは見ていく必要がある。これが僕にとってどれほど大きな意味があるかを。僕が代表チームに行くときにどれだけ幸せかを知っているだろう。あなたはもう少し我慢しなくてはならないね」と答えていた。
長男イバンくん、長女エマちゃん、そして次女ソフィアちゃんと3人の子供がいるモドリッチ夫妻だが、バーニャさんとしては、そろそろ家庭を優先してもいいのではという思いも少なからずあったのかもしれない。
だが、カタールW杯後のインタビューでモドリッチは｢少なくともネーションズリーグまでは続けたい。そうすれば、ユーロ2024のことを考える時間ができるからね｣と代表キャリア継続の意向を示しており、残念ながらもうしばらくは待つ必要がありそうだ。

ライプツィヒのクロアチア代表DFヨシュコ・グヴァルディオルが大人気だ。
グヴァルディオルは元々高い評価を受けていたが、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)でさらに名前を轟かせた逸材。躍進するクロアチアにおいて全試合にフル出場し、その守備能力を遺憾無く発揮。日本代表戦やブラジル代表戦、3位決定戦のモロッコ代表戦でも存在感は大きかった。
その価値はおよそ1億ユーロ()ともされているが、チェルシーやレアル・マドリーをはじめとする多くのビッグクラブが挙って関心を示しており、まだ20歳と若い逸材を巡っては争奪戦の様相を呈している。
そんなグヴァルディオルは、クロアチアの女性からも大人気だという。クロアチア『HRT』によると、クロアチア代表の帰国後に首都ザグレブで行われたセレモニーで、グヴァルディオルは多くの女性ファンからアプローチを受けたようだ。
「ヨシュコ、ヨシュコ」という歓声とともに、各々が掲げたプラカードにグヴァルディオルへのメッセージが多く寄せられていた。さらに、そのうちの1つには携帯電話の番号が記載されており、「いつ電話してくれますか?」というメッセージ付きだったという。しかもすぐにグヴァルディオルが保存できるよう、QRコードまで用意されていた。
W杯前の負傷により、大会期間中は黒いフェイスマスクを着用していたグヴァルディオル。“クロアチアのバットマン”として、ビッグクラブだけでなく女性たちまで虜にしているようだ。
