イングランド女子代表DFアレックス・グリーンウッド(マンチェスター・シティ)が試合中に頭部を負傷し、現場は一時騒然とした。
10月31日、UEFA女子ネーションズリーグ(UWNL)グループA1の第4節でベルギー女子代表とイングランド女子代表が対戦した。
事件は前半19分に発生。GKからのフィードをハーフウェイライン付近で競り合うと、ルーズボールに対してイングランドのグリーンウッドが頭でクリアに行くと、そこにベルギーのFWジャシナ・ブロムが突っ込む形に。激しく激突すると、2人ともピッチに倒れ込み、起き上がれなくなった。
特に激突されたグリーンウッドはピクリとも動かず。急いでメディカルチームがピッチに飛び込むと、その場で治療がスタート。約12分間の中断となり、酸素吸入器もつけられるなど深刻な状態となっていた。
そのまま担架に乗せられてピッチを後にしたグリーンウッド。その際にはスタンドから拍手が送られることに。試合後には歩いている姿も目撃されているとのことで、無事なようだ。なおブロムは包帯を巻いた状態でプレーを続けた。
チームメイトのルーシー・ブロンズはイギリス『ITV4』で「彼女が苦しんでいるのを見るのは嬉しくはない」とコメント。「頭部の負傷であることは明らかで、軽視できないもの。ピッチ状ではメディカルチームが素晴らしく、彼女の安全を確認してくれたので、回復を祈るばかりです」とコメントした。
なお、試合はホームのベルギーが早々に先制。その後イングランドが前半のうちに逆転するも、前半アディショナルタイムにベルギーが追いつくと、終盤にはPKでベルギーが逆転。3-2でベルギーが勝利を収めた。
オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の準優勝チームはこれで4試合を終えて2勝2敗でグループ3位につけている。

この時期になると毎年登場するアグリー・クリスマス・セーター。プレゼントやツリーの柄を過剰なまでに編み込んだ悪趣味さを逆に楽しもうとするもので、デザインの“ダサさ”が売りだ。
各クラブもエンブレムなどを施したダサセーターをこぞって販売している中、ベルギー代表も同アイテムを制作。選手たちがモデルとなって着用した。
撮影には、ケビン・デ・ブライネ、アクセル・ヴィツェルのほか、トルガンとエデンのアザール兄弟らも参加。下半身はベルギー代表のショーツにソックスというクールな装いながら、上半身にはこれでもかというほどダサいセーターをまとっている。
さらに、選手たちは2人組でポーズを取っているのだが、もう1人を膝の上に乗せて抱っこしたり、プレゼントを可愛らしく渡したりと面白おかしくポージング。キュート?な写真の数々には、「最高のクリスマスカードだ」、「ルカクがいないぞ」、「とっても可愛い」、「ツッコミどころが多い」、「突き抜けてる(笑)」と多くの反響が集まった。
なお、これらの写真が用いられたクリスマスカードはベルギー代表の公式サイトからダウンロードが可能だ。

ベルギーサッカー協会(KBVB)は18日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用する新ホームユニフォームを発表した。
2018年のロシアW杯ではベスト16で日本代表を破り、3位に輝いたベルギー。カタールW杯の欧州予選8試合も6勝2分と無敗で切り抜け、早々に本大会出場権を手にすると、本大会ではクロアチア代表、カナダ代表、モロッコ代表と同じグループFに組み分けられている。
これまで“赤い悪魔”の名で知られている男子チームのユニフォームをデザインし、“赤い炎”で知られる女子チームはその派生形のユニフォームを着用することが多かったベルギーだが、新しいホームユニフォームではサプライヤーのアディダスとともに女子チームの発展を支援することを念頭にデザインされている。
そのデザインは、赤をベースに袖の部分は黒に切り替わっている。また、肩のスリーストライプスは黄色で縁取られ、ベルギーのナショナルカラーである3色が表現されている。さらに、両腕にはダイナミックなグラフィックの炎のプリントがされているのも特徴だ。
ショーツに関しては黒が基調で、ソックスは黒を基調に炎をモチーフにしたデザインが施される。
デザインについては、「カッコイイ!」、「卓球部にしか見えない」、「トレーニングウェア感ある」と賛否。また「昔の日本代表みたい!」、「なんか見たことある」と1997年に日本代表が着用した炎のデザインが印象的なユニフォームを彷彿とさせるという意見もあった。
22日にUEFAネーションズリーグ2022-23のウェールズ戦、25日にオランダ戦が控えるベルギーの男子チームだが、このユニフォームはウェールズ戦で選手たちが初めて着用する予定だ。

ベルギーサッカー協会(KBVB)は23日、ベルギー代表がカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用するアウェイユニフォームを発表した。
すでにホームユニフォームが発表され、袖口の炎の柄が話題となっていた中、アウェイユニフォームも大きな話題となっている。
ベルギーのアウェイユニフォームだが、ベルギーで開催される世界最大規模のEDMイベントである「Tomorrowland」とコラボし、ポジティブで、遊び心のある形で「LOVE」を呼びかけることをコンセプトとした。
白をベースとしたユニフォームだが、「Tomorrowland」の花火からインスピレーションを得たカラフルなグラフィックが特徴。多様性、平等、包括性という共通の価値観を象徴している。
アディダスのロゴやKBVBのエンブレム、そして背番号はオレンジや紫、黄色、赤などのカラフルなデザインに。また、背番号の下には大きく「LOVE」の文字がカラフルなデザインで入っている。
これにはファンも「これはなんだ!?」、「素晴らしい写真」、「素晴らしいぞ!」、「凄く好き」、「愛してる」と好意的な意見も多い中、奇抜すぎる試みに反発も。「今までで一番酷いぞ」、「なぜこれがベルギーカラー?」、「地獄だ」、「オランダじゃない?」、「なんだこれ」、「ロゴが全く見えない」と、ベルギーの国旗に使用されている、赤、黒、黄色を全く感じないカラーが使用されていることに非難が衆中している。
なお、このアウェイユニフォームは25日に行われるUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)のオランダ代表戦でお披露目される。
