レアル・マドリーのクロアチア代表MFルカ・モドリッチが娘の誕生日をお祝いしている。
衰えを見せない“鉄人”モドリッチ。37歳となった現在も世界トップクラスのMFとして輝きを放っており、在籍11年目を迎えているマドリーでは通算480試合に出場し、37得点77アシストという数字を誇る。
そんなモドリッチを支えるのが家族の存在。妻のバーニャさんと長男イバンくん、長女エマちゃん、そして次女ソフィアちゃんと3人の子供を授かっているモドリッチだが、長女のエマちゃんが10歳の誕生日を迎えたようだ。
モドリッチは26日に自身のインスタグラムを更新。エマちゃんとの2ショットを添え、「10は君のように特別な数字だ!10歳のお誕生日おめでとう僕のすべて!君を愛しているよ」と祝福した。
以前からモドリッチと瓜二つと言われていたエマちゃんだが、成長とともにさらに父親に似てきた印象だ。インスタグラムの投稿にはファンからも「顔似てる」、「お父さん似に見える」、「かわいらしい」といった反応も寄せられている
そして、やはり「10」はモドリッチにとって特別な番号のようだ。

何事にも節度は必要だ。
母国代表の熱狂的なファンとして知られるクロアチアのイヴァナ・ノールさんは、ブラジル、ロシア大会に続いてカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)も現地観戦。初戦のモロッコ代表戦もスタジアムに足を運んだ。
インスタグラムに投稿されたイヴァナさんの一枚には「美しいクロアチアの王女」、「クイーン」、「その胸どうした?」との賛辞が上がる一方で、「クロアチア人はあなたを恥じています」、「他の人々の文化を尊重するべき」、「自分自身を宣伝しに行った」など、否定的な声も届いている。
物議を醸しているのはそのファッションだ。元「ミス・クロアチア」は、アバヤ(長い黒いローブ)をモチーフとしたような赤白チェックのロングワンピースでスタジアムに現れた。
カタールでは、自国の女性以外はアバヤを着用する必要はないとされているが、上着は腹部と肩を覆い、スカートやドレス、ズボンは膝を覆う必要がある。タイトな服を着たり、胸の谷間を露出したりすることも当然禁じられている。
また、アバヤが体のラインを隠せるようデザインされているのに対し、イヴァナさんの服は足下まで覆われてフードも付いているとはいえ、タイトな上に胸元も全開。それだけでなく、チェック柄のハイレグ水着でビーチの遊歩道を歩く姿も投稿している。
「これはない」、「ふぅ、クロアチアを台無しにしている」、「恥を知れ」などの厳しい意見が飛び交っているイヴァナさんの振る舞い。27日のカナダ代表戦では、会場にどのような姿で現れるのか、注目が集まっている。

ライプツィヒのクロアチア代表DFヨシュコ・グヴァルディオルが大人気だ。
グヴァルディオルは元々高い評価を受けていたが、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)でさらに名前を轟かせた逸材。躍進するクロアチアにおいて全試合にフル出場し、その守備能力を遺憾無く発揮。日本代表戦やブラジル代表戦、3位決定戦のモロッコ代表戦でも存在感は大きかった。
その価値はおよそ1億ユーロ()ともされているが、チェルシーやレアル・マドリーをはじめとする多くのビッグクラブが挙って関心を示しており、まだ20歳と若い逸材を巡っては争奪戦の様相を呈している。
そんなグヴァルディオルは、クロアチアの女性からも大人気だという。クロアチア『HRT』によると、クロアチア代表の帰国後に首都ザグレブで行われたセレモニーで、グヴァルディオルは多くの女性ファンからアプローチを受けたようだ。
「ヨシュコ、ヨシュコ」という歓声とともに、各々が掲げたプラカードにグヴァルディオルへのメッセージが多く寄せられていた。さらに、そのうちの1つには携帯電話の番号が記載されており、「いつ電話してくれますか?」というメッセージ付きだったという。しかもすぐにグヴァルディオルが保存できるよう、QRコードまで用意されていた。
W杯前の負傷により、大会期間中は黒いフェイスマスクを着用していたグヴァルディオル。“クロアチアのバットマン”として、ビッグクラブだけでなく女性たちまで虜にしているようだ。

クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS) とナイキは18日、クロアチア代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。
2022年のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で3位という結果を残したクロアチア。6月に開幕するユーロ2024の予選では苦しみ、同グループのトルコ代表に後れを取ったものの、2位で突破。本大会では、スペイン代表、イタリア代表、アルバニア代表と同居する“死の組”グループBに入っている。
そのユーロでも着用する新ユニフォームだが、1stユニフォームは大きくイメージチェンジ。クロアチアといえば、白と赤の市松模様が特徴だが、今回は赤と白の四角形がこれまでで最大となり、大胆な外観となっている。
一方の2ndユニフォームは、クラシックなスタイルに現代的なひねりを加え、青と紺の2色を組み合わせた市松模様を斜めの四角形で表現。これは、3位という結果を残した1998年のフランスW杯のメンバーに敬意を表しているという。
ファンの注目は、やはり市松模様が大きくなった1stユニフォームに向けられることに。「素晴らしい」、「際立っている」という意見もあるものの、「史上最悪のデザインだ」、「センスがない」、「ポーランドのユニフォームに見えた」、「これ以上酷いものは見たことがない」、「これは恥ずかしい」などと否定的な意見が大半となっている。
