元スイス代表DFフィリップ・センデロス氏が来日している。
2001-02シーズンに母国のセルベッテでプロキャリアをスタートさせたセンデロス氏。2003年冬にはアーセナルに加入し、2005年にはFAカップ優勝に貢献すると、その後はミラン、エバートン、フルアム、バレンシア、アストン・ビラなどでプレー。2019年末に現役を引退した。
引退後には古巣セルベットのスポーツ・ディレクターを務めるなど、クラブの経営に携わっているセンデロス氏だが、FIFA(国際サッカー連盟)が主催する『FIFA Diploma in Club Management』のために来日。自身のインスタグラムで、同じく来日した元ブラジル代表FWジーコ氏や元オーストラリア代表FWティム・ケーヒル氏とのショットを公開している。
センデロス氏の来日には、日本のファンも「めっちゃ懐かしい」、「変わらないなー」、「センデロスは流石に目立つだろうな」、「元気そう」、「あのセンデロスやん」と驚いている様子だ。
さらにセンデロス氏は23日にも自身のSNSを更新すると、京都の金閣寺や伏見稲荷大社、嵐山といった観光名所を満喫する様子のほか、ストーリーズでは同胞の元スイス代表FWナッシム・ベン・カリファ(サンフレッチェ広島)とのショットも公開していた。

元スイス代表DFのフィリップ・センデロス氏(35)が古巣セルベットのスポーツ・ディレクター(SD)に就任した。
センデロス氏は昨年にスイス2部のキアッソで現役を引退するまで、アーセナルやミラン、エバートン、フルアム、バレンシア、アストン・ビラなどでプレー。また、スイス代表では2010年の南アフリカ・ワールドカップ(W杯)、2014年ブラジルW杯に出場するなど、通算57キャップを誇った。
その元スイス代表DFは15日、プロキャリアをスタートした古巣セルベットのSD就任に際し、クラブ公式サイトを通じて、「お気に入りのクラブに戻ることができてとても嬉しいよ。すでに設置されている技術委員会と共に、クラブを発展させ続けるために尽力するつもりだ」と、意気込みを口にしている。
なお、セルベットは今シーズンのスイス・スーパーリーグを4位で終えている。

アーセナルなどで活躍し、今年現役を引退した元スイス代表DFフィリップ・センデロスが、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)で自らの憧れのチームであるレアル・マドリーと対戦した際の様子を振り返った。
スイス生まれながら、スペイン人の父とセルビア人の母を持つセンデロスは、スイスでプロデビューした後、2003年からアーセナルに加入し、ミランへのレンタルを挟みながら2010年まで7シーズンを過ごした。

センデロスはアーセナルの公式ポッドキャスト『イン・ロックダウン・ポッドキャスト』に出演。その中で、2006年のCLでのマドリーとの対決を振り返り、緊張しすぎて試合前に嘔吐していたことを明かした。
「私の父はスペイン人で、マドリッドの近く出身だからレアル・マドリーの大ファンだったんだ。だから私も子どもの頃からマドリーは素晴らしいチームだと思っていたし、いつかプレーできたら良いなと思うチームだった」
「あの試合、ベルナベウでのあの日が私が生きてきた中で一番緊張した日だった。キックオフの直前、ピッチで吐いたのを覚えているよ。私の夢が叶ったときだったからね。でも(ベルナベウの)あの雰囲気とあの状況はとても怖かったよ」
ガチガチに緊張していたセンデロスとは裏腹にFWティエリ・アンリの個人技が光る素晴らしいゴールで先制し、1-0で勝利したアーセナル。センデロスにとってこの試合が最も緊張した日であるとともに、キャリアを通して最高の記憶でもあると話した。
「あのマドリーとのアウェーでの試合とアンリの素晴らしいゴール。あの試合は私にとってアーセナルでのキャリアで最高の思い出の1つだし、ピッチの上で経験した中でも最高の思い出でもある」
「アーセナルの一員として、ベルナベウでマドリーと対戦することが子どもの時の夢だったんだ。私の人生でやってみたいことだったし、それが実際に自分に起こっていたんだ。だからフットボールのピッチの上で最高の思い出の1つだよ」

スイス2部リーグのキアッソは10日、元スイス代表DFフィリップ・センデロス(34)の加入を発表した。契約期間は1年となっている。
スイス代表として57試合の出場歴があり、アーセナルやミラン、バレンシアといったビッグクラブに在籍した経歴を持つセンターバックのセンデロス。直近ではMLSのヒューストン・ダイナモに所属していたが、2019年1月に契約を満了になって以降は所属クラブがない状況だった。
