チェルシーは15日、2024-25シーズンの新ユニフォームを発表した。
2024-25シーズンはエンツォ・マレスカ監督を新たに迎え、再スタートを図るチェルシー。近年は大きな投資をして選手を補強しているものの、肝心のフットボール面がピリッとせずに苦しいシーズンが続いている。
再び監督を交代し、チームの立て直しを図りにいく中、サプライヤーのナイキと共に発表した新ユニフォームは大胆な新デザインとなった。
新たなエネルギー、新たな情熱、そして新たな熱意をもたらす新体制のチェルシー。目玉は鮮やかな青色で、炎の最も熱い部分と、ピッチ内外での成功という共通の野望のもとでクラブ全体を団結させる燃えるような情熱を象徴している。
また、ユニークなタッチを加えるオレンジ色のアクセントカラーは、クラブのランクに湧き上がる異なる種類の情熱を表している。
炎の揺らぎのような波を打つデザインだが、現地のファンからは酷評が殺到。「これまでで最悪のキット」、「過去20年で最悪だ」、「ひどすぎる」、「ナイキはやめた方が良い」、「深刻な問題」、「コンセプトは良いがデザインは最悪」、「本気なのか?」、「選手はもっと似合うと思っていたけど…」、「炎にしたら本当に燃えてしまう」と、厳しい声が集まってしまった。

サウサンプトンはマンチェスター・シティのアシスタントコーチを務めるエンツォ・マレスカ氏(43)に指揮官就任のオファーを断られたようだ。イギリス『フットボール・インサイダー』が伝えている。
今季序盤戦から低迷が続き、昨年11月にラルフ・ハーゼンヒュットル監督を、今年2月にネイサン・ジョーンズ監督を解任しているサウサンプトン。現在はコーチのルベン・セジェス氏(39)が暫定的に指揮を執っているものの、来季のチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)降格が決まり、シーズン後の退任が決定している状況だ。
一方、マレスカ氏はシティでジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督の副官を担う人物。かつてユベントスやフィオレンティーナ、セビージャ、ウェストブロムウィッチ・アルビオン(WBA)などでプレーしたイタリア人の元サッカー選手だ。
引退後は古巣セビージャやウェストハムなどでコーチを務めた後、2020年8月から1年間、シティのU-23チームを指揮。パルマの指揮官就任によってシティを離れるも昨年7月に復帰し、グアルディオラ監督率いるファーストチームの一員となった。
シティが今季のプレミアリーグを制したことで指導者キャリアにおけるトップリーグ初タイトルを獲得したマレスカ氏だが、その裏ではつい先日、サウサンプトンから届いた指揮官就任オファーを拒絶。これを受けたサウサンプトンはスウォンジー・シティを率いるラッセル・マーティン監督(37)の引き抜きにシフトし、こちらは大筋合意まで漕ぎ着けたという。
シティで事実上のナンバー2に君臨するマレスカ氏。コーチと監督という役割の違いはあれど、今季のトレブルにも可能性を残すチームから2部リーグのチームへという選択肢はなかったようだ。

チェルシーの新監督が本日3日にも決まるようだ。
わずか1年でマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノ監督との別れを決め、後任が注目どころのチェルシー。その後任はというと、マンチェスター・シティでジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督のアシスタントコーチを歴任し、今季から率いたレスター・シティを1年でプレミアリーグ復帰に導いたエンツォ・マレスカ氏(44)で決まりとされる。
チェルシーが招へいとなれば、2026年夏まで契約を残すレスターからの引き抜きとなるため、補償金が最大の焦点だったが、イギリス『The Athletic』によると、両クラブは2日に1000万ポンド(約20億円)程度の額で合意。レスターはマレスカ氏にもチェルシーと話す許可をし、3日にも発表がなされる予定だという。
なお、チェルシーとマレスカ氏の契約は1年延長オプション付きの5年。マレスカ氏は現役時代にシティのほか、チェルシーなどでもプレーしたウィリー・カバジェロ氏ら6名をスタッフとして連れていくそうだ。

チェルシーはU-23スペイン代表FWサム・オモロディオン(20)の獲得について、アトレティコ・マドリーと合意に至ったとのことだ。
エンツォ・マレスカ監督の下で、今夏も忙しい移籍市場となっているチェルシー。すでにGKフィリップ・ヨルゲンセンやDFトシン・アダラバイヨ、MFキーナン・デューズバリー=ホールを獲得しており、現在はストライカー確保を模索している。
そんな中で、候補に浮上したのがオモロディオンだ。昨シーズンはレンタル先のアラベスで35試合8ゴールとまずまずの成績を残し、U-23スペイン代表としてもパリ・オリンピックに出場するなど将来有望なストライカー獲得に向け、交渉が開始されていた。
移籍市場に精通するジャーナリストのファブリツィオ・ロマーノ氏によると、両クラブは移籍金3500万ポンド(約71億円)で合意に至ったとのこと。オモロディオンもすでに7年契約で合意と報じられている。
現在はメディカルチェックに向けた準備が進められている模様。すべてが順調に進めば、近日中に正式発表される見込みとなっている。

アルゼンチン代表MFエンソ・フェルナンデスがチェルシーの副キャプテンに任命される見込みだ。イギリス『タイムズ』が報じている。
2023年1月にベンフィカから鳴り物入りでの加入となったエンソ・フェルナンデス。以降はピッチ内で中盤の絶対的な主力に君臨し、優れたゲームオーガナイズに加えて闘争心溢れるプレーでチームを支えている。
その一方で、アルゼンチン代表としてコパ・アメリカ2024制覇後、優勝を喜ぶバスの車内でフランス代表の選手たちに対する人種差別的な内容のチャントを歌ってしまった上、SNSで拡散したことで大きな物議を醸した。
その後、SNSを通じた謝罪と共にクラブ復帰後は憤りを示したフランス代表DFヴェスレイ・フォファナらフランス人の同僚らへの謝罪も行い、ひとまずクラブ内において問題解決となった。
とはいえ、ファンの一部からは依然として拒否反応もあり、新シーズン開幕に向けて同選手を巡る状況は懸念材料となっている。
そんななか、エンツォ・マレスカ監督は渦中のアルゼンチン代表MFをイングランド代表DFリース・ジェームズに次ぐ副キャプテンに任命するようだ。

なお、マレスカ監督は先日のレアル・マドリー戦後、試合中にジェームズからエンソにキャプテンのアームバンドが手渡されたことに対して。「彼は重要なプレーヤーの一人。リースを交代させたとき、彼は『ブレスレット』をエンソに渡した。これは、エンソがチーム内で尊敬されていることを示している」と、同選手がチームリーダーに相応しい存在であると語っていた。
