トゥールーズは8日、リーズ・ユナイテッドからU-21イングランド代表DFチャーリー・クレスウェル(21)の獲得を発表した。契約期間や移籍金は公表されていない。
リーズがチャンピオンシップへ降格した2023-24シーズンはレンタルバック。しかし、チャンピオンシップで5試合、EFLカップで2試合の出場にとどまった。
U-21イングランド代表でもキャップ数を重ねており、2023年6月にはU-22日本代表との国際親善試合で先発。直後に行われたU-21欧州選手権2023でも1試合に出場し、優勝メンバーの1人となっていた。

クレスウェルはリーズのアカデミー出身の190cmセンターバックで、18歳時の2020年9月にEFLカップ(カラバオカップ)でファーストチームデビュー。2021年9月にはプレミアリーグデビューも果たした。2022-23シーズンはミルウォールへレンタル移籍。チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)で28試合5ゴール1アシストと多くの経験を積んだ。U-21イングランド代表でもキャップ数を重ねており、2023年6月にはU-22日本代表との国際親善試合で先発。直後に行われたU-21欧州選手権2023でも1試合に出場し、優勝メンバーの1人となっていた。

「笑いの神に愛されすぎ」GKまで抜いたのにまさかの結末…味方のゴールも項垂れる姿にリバプールファンが反応「全てが愛おしい」「応援しがいがある」
