日本代表が1日に国立競技場で『TOYO TIRES CUP 2024』のタイ代表戦に臨み、5-0と快勝した。
アジアカップが迫るなか、代表初の元日戦に臨む森保ジャパンはフレッシュな顔ぶれが先発に並び、藤井陽也、伊藤涼太郎、奥抜侃志がA代表デビュー。馴染み深いメンバーは伊東純也と田中碧のみとなり、上田綺世はベンチからも外れた。
慣れないメンバーの日本だが、石井正忠監督率いるタイを相手に切り替えの意識も高め、ボールの主導権争いで優位に。7分に代表定着を目指す佐野海舟の縦パスから、伊藤涼太郎が個人技も生かしてフィニッシュに持ち込んだりと仕掛ける。
日本の押し込む流れが続くなか、13分にも伊東がボックス右深くに持ち込み、相手ゴールに迫る形を作ると、22分にも田中碧のボール奪取&縦パスから細谷真大が収め、伊藤涼太郎がシュートに。良い崩しだったが、枠に飛ばしきれない。
日本が攻めるものの、もうひと押しが足らないなか、30分にボックス右から仕掛けた伊東が中にDF数人の守備網を切り崩していき、フィニッシュ。毎熊晟矢のスルーパスを起点にしてのフィニッシュワークだったが、ここも相手GKにブロックされる。
攻撃停滞を払しょくしようと後半から堂安律と中村敬斗を送り出した日本は前半と同様に攻めると、50分にボックス右の伊東が出したボールが相手DFに当たり、後ろからサポートに入った田中がそのこぼれ球を拾って右足一閃。ついに均衡を破る。
トップ下に入った堂安がうまく攻撃のアクセントになり、先手を奪った日本は相手の反撃を防ぎつつ、次のゴールも狙いに。67分に鋭いターンから堂安がシュートを放ったなか、68分に南野拓実、A代表デビューの三浦颯太を送り込み、畳みかける。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
