今夏エスパニョールから1年間のレンタル移籍でマドリーに加入したベテランストライカー・ホセル。20代前半の頃にレアル・マドリー・カスティージャでプレーしていた33歳は、今季から2トップを導入したチームにおいて、唯一の即戦力センターフォワードとして存在感を放っている。
ラ・リーガではここまで全13試合に出場し、5ゴール2アシスト。スタメン6試合、途中出場7試合と絶対的な存在ではないが、5ゴール全てはスタメン出場の試合でのもの。ヴィニシウス・ジュニオール&ロドリゴ・ゴエスの2トップを軸に据えるマドリーにおいて、欠かすことのできない“駒”と言える。
今年3月に32歳でデビューしたスペイン代表でも継続的に招集され、通算9試合で5ゴールをマークするなか、スペイン『Relevo』によると、マドリーはエスパニョールとの契約締結時に盛り込んだ150万ユーロ(約2億4000万円)弱の買い取りオプションを行使する見通しだという。
