イングランド代表DFカイル・ウォーカーが7日、フランス代表戦に向けた公式会見に臨んだ。

4日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)ラウンド16でセネガル代表戦を3-0と完勝しベスト8進出を決めたイングランド。準々決勝では前回王者のフランス代表との対戦が決定した。

7日に公式会見に臨んだウィーカーは、多くの記者から質問のあったフランス代表のエースFWキリアン・ムバッペに対して、以下のように言及した。
｢マンチェスター・シティで何度か対戦したことがあるが、彼は素晴らしい選手で、調子もいい。簡単なことではないが、プロである以上、最高の相手と対戦したいと思うし、彼はその一人だ｣

｢彼を止めるために何をすべきかは分かっている。言うは易く行うは難しだが、自分を過小評価することはない。僕はこれまでに代表や所属クラブで素晴らしい選手たちと対戦してきました。彼は尊敬に値するが、あまり尊敬しすぎないようにしたい｣
また、ムバッペに対する質問ばかりなことに対し、｢みんなが彼に注目するのはわかるが、イングランドvsムバッペではなく、イングランドvsフランスなんだ。彼はトッププレーヤーだが、僕たちはテニスをしているわけではなく、あくまでもチームスポーツなんだ。タフな試合になるだろうが、彼がゴールを決められるようにレッドカーペットを敷くつもりもないよ｣と語った。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu
