5月10日、元オランダ代表FWデニス・ベルカンプ氏が53歳の誕生日を迎えた。

オランダ代表として79キャップを数えるベルカンプ氏は、アヤックスでゴールを量産し1993-94シーズンからインテルでプレー。2年後にアーセナルへと加わり、無敗優勝した2003-04シーズンをはじめとした3度のプレミアリーグ優勝や4度のFAカップ優勝など、コミュティシールドも合わせると「11」のタイトル獲得に貢献したレジェンドだ。

2021年に設立されたプレミアリーグ殿堂『Hall of Fame』にも選ばれる活躍を見せたベルカンプ氏だが、中でも最も有名なゴールは2002年3月のニューカッスル戦で見せたものだろう。

相手を背にした状態で斜めのパスを受けると、ファーストコントロールでDFと入れ替わる。トラップと同時に相手を裏街道で抜き去り、その後の一対一も冷静に沈めた。

いつまでも色褪せないこのゴールは、プレミアリーグの公式ツイッターも改めて取り上げており、「お誕生日おめでとう、デニス・ベルカンプ!この魔法のゴールに飽きることはない」と20年が経った今もその凄さを伝えている。

これだけでなく、1998年のフランス・ワールドカップ準々決勝アルゼンチン戦でのスーパートラップからのゴールなど、幾つもの魅力的なゴールを生んだベルカンプ氏。ファンからも「当時を思い出した」、「何回見ても訳分からん」、「アイスマン!」、「今まで見た中で最高のゴール」、「アーセナルを好きになったきっかけです」と多くの反応が寄せられている。

レアルやユーベがここ数日で獲得トライも…イタリア代表DFカラフィオーリが望んだのは実現へ向かうアーセナル移籍のみ
