イングランド代表MFジュード・ベリンガムがピッチの外でも優しさを見せた。15日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループIの最終節でサンマリノ代表と対戦したイングランド。すでにW杯への出場が確定している中、ベリンガムはフル出場を果たした。

若手や代表キャップ数の少ないメンバーで挑んだ中、FWハリー・ケインの4ゴールなどの活躍もあり、10-0の大量得点で快勝を収めると、ベリンガムはアウェイの地まで訪れてくれたサポーターにシャツをプレゼントしようと、スタンドまで歩み寄った。
ベリンガムの目の前には、「ジュード、シャツを貰えませんか?」写真入りの手書きボードを掲げた少年がいたが、ベリンガムはそれに気が付かず、ユース時代を過ごしたバーミンガムのユニフォームを着た別の少年にプレゼント。ボードを掲げていた少年がガッカリするのをカメラが捉えていた。

ベリンガムの行いに全く問題はなかったが、この映像がSNS上で拡散されると、本人のもとまで届いた模様。ベリンガムはツイッターでこの動画を引用しながら、「ソーリー、ブルーズ(バーミンガム)の旗に集中しすぎてた。彼を見つけて、週末のドルトムントのものを用意できるかな?」と提案した。
18歳の新鋭の気遣いには、多くのファンが反応。SNSの力で少年のアカウントも発見されたようで、「素晴らしい行動力」「ツイッターの好きなところ」「最高だ」「人柄が素晴らしい」とベリンガムの優しさやSNSのパワーに大きな反響が集まった。

スパーズの逸材FWパロット、今度は英3部MKドンズへ武者修行

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」
