シティが守護神エデルソンと2026年までの新契約を締結!

マンチェスター・シティは9月1日、ブラジル代表GKエデルソン(28)と2026年までの新契約を結んだことを発表した。

元々2025年まで結んでいた契約からさらに1年延長する格好となったエデルソン。クラブ公式サイトを通じて、その喜びと今後の決意を語っている。

「簡単な決断だった。僕がいたいと思う場所はここ以外にないんだ」

「世界最高のスカッドのひとつであるチームの一員であること、毎年のようにトロフィーを懸けて戦えること、それは全てのフットボーラーの望むものなんだ。そして、シティならその機会を与えてくれる」

「素晴らしい監督にも恵まれている。彼と一緒に働くことは、僕のキャリアにおいて最も貴重な経験の一つだよ」

2017年夏にベンフィカから加入したエデルソンは、これまでに公式戦195試合に出場し、145失点、97クリーンシートという圧巻のスタッツを残している。

すでにプレミアリーグは3回、EFLカップは4回、FAカップは1回ずつ制しており、2018-19シーズンにはイングランド史上初の国内三冠に貢献した。

シティでは今年に入ってMFケビン・デ・ブライネ、MFフェルナンジーニョ、DFジョン・ストーンズ、DFルベン・ディアスと契約を更新しており、エデルソンで5人目となった。
