7日にウェンブリー・スタジアムで行われたユーロ2020準決勝、イングランド代表vsデンマーク代表の一戦。試合は延長戦の末にイングランドが2-1で勝利し、史上初の決勝進出を果たしたが、試合後の一幕が大きな話題になっていた。

スタンドの観衆に挨拶していたイングランドの選手たちだが、MFメイソン・マウントは観客の中から大声でアピールする少女を見つけると、警備の壁を越えて、自らが着用していたユニフォームを手渡した。

スターから素敵なプレゼントを貰った少女は嬉しさのあまり大号泣。一緒に観戦に来ていたお父さんと抱き合い喜びを分かち合っていた。

マウントも「試合に勝ったことは大きな功績だったけど、そのリアクションを見たことは、僕にとってその喜びを上回ったよ。あのレベルのサポートは本当に多くのことをもたらしてくれる」と語ったシーンだったが、イギリス『サン』がこの少女に取材。今の心境を聞いている。

『サン』によるとこの少女は10歳のベル・マクナリーちゃんで、バーバリーなどファッションブランドのモデル業も行っているようだ。彼女とお父さんはグループリーグ初戦のクロアチア代表戦の際にイングランドのチームバスを見に行き、その時にマウントが手を振ってくれたため、覚えてくれていたのかもと語っている。

「彼が私にシャツをくれたときは本当に夢中だったから、私は泣き始めて、足の揺れが止まらなかったの」

「昨日学校にシャツを着ていったけど、それから脱いでいないわ」

ベルちゃんと一緒に試合を観戦した父トミーさんも最高の経験だったと語っている。

「それは私にとってももっと良いことだった。娘が純粋な喜びを経験するのを見ることはどんな父親にとっても最高のことさ」

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

シティで序列低下のウォーカーに古巣2クラブが関心、熱心なのはイングランド2部クラブ

リンガードがC・ロナウドのゴールパフォをオマージュ「ちょっとしたウェルカム・ギフト」
