シティで9年間プレーした元アルゼンチン代表DFサバレタが現役引退を発表

昨シーズン限りでウェストハムを退団していた元アルゼンチン代表DFパブロ・サバレタ(35)が現役引退を発表した。

サバレタは母国アルゼンチンのサン・ロレンソでキャリアをスタート。2005年8月に海を渡りエスパニョールへと完全移籍。2008年8月にマンチェスター・シティへと完全移籍していた。

シティでは右サイドバックのレギュラーとして長らくプレーし、公式戦333試合に出場し11ゴール28アシストを記録。2度のプレミアリーグ優勝やFAカップ優勝、EFLカップ優勝を経験していた。

2017年7月にウェストハムへと完全移籍。ウェストハムでも公式戦79試合に出場し2アシストを記録。プレミアリーグでは通算300試合出場を達成するなど、多くの功績を残していた。

また、アルゼンチン代表としても58試合に出場。2014年のブラジル・ワールドカップ、そしてコパ・アメリカは2度出場。また、世代別では2005年のU-20ワールドカップ優勝や、バルセロナのFWリオネル・メッシらとともに2008年の北京オリンピックで金メダルを獲得するなど功績を残していた。

サバレタは自身のツイッター(@pablo_zabaleta)を通じて引退を発表。感謝のメッセージを送った。
