「メンツエグすぎる!」12年前のU-17W杯で世界を沸かせた”94ジャパン”メンバーたちが再会!「スゴい面子」

日本代表が直面した2年前の悪夢が過る“わずか”ながらも決定的な差/日本代表コラム
あれから2年余り──ほとんどの人が絶望のどん底に落とされたであろう、あの試合を思い出させる結末となってしまった。 日本代表は17日、国際親善試合でメキシコ代表と対戦。結果は0-2でメキシコが勝利を収めた。 <div id="cws_ad">◆森保ジャパン、FIFAランキング11位のメキシコに奮闘も後半2失点で惜敗<script src="//player.daznservices.com/player.js#44a12140e3dda008f998a5a1a9.1tybkqliqmgvi1ndbmyxnzxqc3$videoid=wzzdprps6nnl1cl1m3yonz86c" async></script></div> 日本の平日早朝というなかなかないタイミングで行われる試合。ただ、出勤前、登校前に早起きして観戦した方も多いのではないだろうか。また、在宅ワークも増えている今の時期であれば、より観られた方も多いのかもしれない。 眠い目を擦りながらも早起きした人たちは、「早起きは三文の徳」という諺を実感したと思ったかもしれない。それぐらい前半の日本代表は可能性を感じさせた。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆日本が主導権、敵将に“最悪”とまで言わせるパフォーマンス</span> パナマ代表戦から中3日の日本と、韓国代表戦から中2日のメキシコと、コンディションの差はあれど、日本は立ち上がりから積極的な入りを見せる。 最初の10分ぐらいはメキシコに効果的な攻撃こそさせなかったものの、日本もプレスに引っかかるシーンがあり、一進一退の攻防となった。しかし徐々に日本の前線がコンビネーションを見せ躍動する。 10分すぎには2列目右サイドの伊東純也(ヘンク)が中央に絞ってプレスをかけてボールを奪うと左へ展開。ボックス内でパスを受けた鎌田大地(フランクフルト)が相手を引きつけて中央へ送るも、これには鈴木武蔵(ベールスホット)がわずかに合わず、先制のチャンスを逃す。 さらに12分には、再びボール奪取から原口元気(ハノーファー)がドリブルでカットインから強烈なミドルシュート。枠を捉えていたシュートだったが、GKギジェルモ・オチョアが鋭い反応でセーブする。 そして15分には左サイドで粘った原口が中央へ折り返すと、フリーで受けた鈴木がボックス内中央からシュート。しかし、これはオチョアの右足で防がれる。 その後も右サイドを再三攻め上がる伊東からのクロスに原口が飛び込むなど、日本が圧倒していた時間帯が続いたが、結局メキシコのゴールネットが揺れることはなかった。 メキシコ代表のヘラルド・マルティーノ監督は試合後に「前半の20分、25分間は、私が代表監督に就任してからの2年間で最悪の時間だった」とコメントするほど、メキシコに何もさせず、まさに日本の時間帯だった。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆前半のツケを払うことになった45分間</span> 再三のチャンスを決め切れなかった日本だが、後半はそのツケを払うことになってしまう。 鎌田と原口が攻撃のキーマンとなっていたことを見抜いたマルティーノ監督はDFルイス・ロドリゲスを右サイドバックに、DFエドソン・アルバレスをボランチに置いて鎌田のマークにつけ、ダブルボランチにしてバイタルエリアのケアを行った。 さらに、中2日からくる立ち上がりの悪さを45分間凌いだことで、後半はギアを上げ、プレスの強度やデュエルでの勝率を上げていった。 それと同時に日本はズルズルと後退。強度を上げるためか、MF柴崎岳(レガネス)と鈴木を下げ、MF橋本拳人(FCロストフ)とMF南野拓実(リバプール)を起用したが、これが裏目に。中盤のバランスが崩れ、前半からメキシコの攻撃の芽を摘み、攻撃のスイッチを入れていたMF遠藤航(シュツットガルト)をメキシコは封じに行き主導権を握ることに成功。そして、押し込んだ状態で難しい局面をエースのFWラウール・ヒメネスが決め切って先制したのだ。 明らかに日本よりは決定機の数が少なかったメキシコだが、そこを決め切って先に試合を動かすあたり、やはりレベルが1つも2つも違うことを証明した。シュートのアイデアもさすがだが、良い時間帯で仕留めるチームとしての能力の高さは日本にはないものだった。 ビハインドとなった日本だが、押し上げることができない。鎌田にもボールが入らなくなり、前線の4枚はプレスに走らされることに。さらに無理やり縦につけようとすればそこを狙われ、メキシコボールにされるという悪循環が続いた。その結果、南野に入れたボールを奪われた流れからFWイルビング・ロサーノにゴールを許し、5分間で2失点。その後は、ピッチが霧に包まれたように、日本のサッカーも霧の中に入り込み、0-2で敗れた。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆わずかでも決定的な差</span> 前半は日本、後半はメキシコという45分ずつで大きく流れが変わった試合だが、こういった試合をモノにできなければ、ワールドカップでベスト8に入ることはできないだろう。 いや、このメキシコですら1994年のアメリカ・ワールドカップから7大会連続でベスト16で敗退している。そのメキシコに良いようにやられている今のままでは、ベスト8に自信を持って進めるとは言えないだろう。 両チームの差は様々なところにあるが、大きくは2つだと考えられる。1つは90分間でゲームをデザインする力だ。 森保一監督が就任してから、日本代表はピッチ内での対応力を身に付けようと活動を続けてきた。それは、冒頭でも触れた2018年のロシア・ワールドカップ ラウンド16でのベルギー代表戦での苦すぎる経験があるからだ。 誰もがベルギー優勢だと考えていたあの試合、日本が原口と乾貴士のゴールで2点のリードを奪う。日本人を含め多くの人が予想していなかった番狂わせが起こると思ったが、その後に起きたことは悲劇としか言えなかった。 あの試合で日本が痛感したのは、ピッチ上での対応力、判断が勝敗を分けるということだった。2点ビハインドになったベルギーのロベルト・マルティネス監督は、スピードとテクニックに優れるドリエス・メルテンスとヤニク・フェレイラ・カラスコを下げ、高さのあるマルアン・フェライニとナセル・シャドゥリを投入する。そのメッセージを受け取ったベルギーの選手たちは、高さで日本に対抗し、セットプレーから5分間で2点を奪って同点とした。 あの試合にも出場していた原口は、メキシコ戦後に「実力がすごくある相手に対して、なんで毎回こうなるんだという感情になりました」と本音を吐露。良い試合運びをしながらも、簡単に相手にゴールを許す展開に「まさにフラッシュバックしました」とベルギー戦を思い出したといった。 2年が経過し、日本代表が成長していないとは言わない。ただ、ワールドカップでベスト8に入るだけの力は、まだ備わっていないことを痛感させられたメキシコ戦だった。 そして2つ目は、そのデザインを可能にする基本的なプレー精度だ。メキシコ戦では細かなミスが特に後半に散見。パフォーマンスが徐々に落ち、メキシコが勢いづく要因にもなった。吉田麻也(サンプドリア)は「1個つながれば、1個相手のプレスをかいくぐれば、もう1mボールが前に出てれば、というシーンが非常に多かった」とコメントした。あと1歩というところの精度を上げなければ、デザインした通りには上手くいかなくなってしまう。 柴崎も「選手個々人の能力というか、メキシコの選手はテクニックもしっかりしていたので、そこで差が出てしまった」と語った。個々人が残り2年でさらにレベルアップしなければ、日本がベスト8に入ることは難しいだろう。 <span class="paragraph-title">◆あと2年で何を積み上げていくか</span> 試合前に「指標になる試合」と原口や柴崎は口にしていたが、まさに日本代表の現在地を知る良い機会となった。もちろん勝って課題を見つけられた方が良いが、この試合をこの状況下でこのタイミングで行えたことは非常に大きな価値がある。 「今日がワールドカップじゃなくてよかった」と試合後に原口が語ったが、貴重な経験を2年前にできたことは大きい。「この2年間を無駄にせず」とも語ったように、長いか短いかは分からないが、残りの2年でやるべきことは整理できるはずだ。 アジアでの戦いだけでは感じられない課題、そして日本国内での親善試合では得ることのできない経験を今回の日本代表はしたはずだ。次は来年3月のカタール・ワールドカップ アジア2次予選。Jリーグ組も予選では招集される可能性もあるが、この4カ月で誰が何を積み上げるか。それぞれのクラブでのプレーにより一層注目する4カ月となりそうだ。 <div id="cws_ad">《超ワールドサッカー編集部・菅野剛史》</div> 2020.11.18 19:45 Wed

ベールスホット退団濃厚の鈴木武蔵が関東1部・栃木シティFCの練習に参加

「上手くね?」「箸使えるのすごい」G大阪の助っ人FWジェバリ、巧みな箸使いで寿司を食べる姿にファン驚愕&期待「もう日本人やん!」

ベールスホット退団濃厚の鈴木武蔵が関東1部・栃木シティFCの練習に参加

ディルク・カイト監督率いるベールスホットがベルギー1部復帰確実に…指揮官はステップアップを示唆
