イギリス『タイムズ』によると、ウェストハムは在籍2年間の公式戦でもたった18試合の出場にとどまるウィルシャーと2021年まで契約を残しているが、費用対効果の悪さも鑑みて、今夏に手放したがっているという。
ウェストハムは契約解消を求めて協議に入っている模様。移籍先が見つかるようであれば、ネックとなる週給10万ポンド(約1380万円)の高額給与も獲得希望クラブが工面できない差額分を支払う意思があるようだ。

ライスがチェルシーアカデミーからの放出を回想…「大きな失望」
ウェストハムのイングランド代表MFデクラン・ライス(21)がチェルシーアカデミーから放出された際の心境を明かした。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えている。 ロンドン生まれのライスは、同い年のイングランド代表MFメイソン・マウントらと共に7歳から2014年までチェルシーのアカデミーに在籍していた。 だが、イングランド屈指のタレントが揃う同アカデミーで思うようにプレーできず、10代半ばで放出の憂き目に。そして、同じロンドンにあるウェストハムのユースへの移籍を強いられた。 それでも、2017年にトップチームデビューを果たすと、安定したボール捌きと守備力を生かしてアンカーの主力に定着。今夏の移籍市場では古巣チェルシーが呼び戻しに動く可能性も盛んに報じられている。 そういった状況の中でライスは、14歳のときに味わった「大きな失望」と表現するチェルシーアカデミー退団を振り返っている。 「14歳のときにチェルシーから放出されるという、大きな失望から立ち直る必要があったんだ」 「当時の僕は放出という事実が大きな失望でしかなかったよ。平日はいつもコブハムでトレーニングをしていたし、休日には多くの試合にも出ていた」 「それなのに、自分がもうチェルシーの一員ではないと告げられたときは大きなショックを受けたよ。自分の身にまさかそんなことが起こるとは思っていなかったけど、実際に起こってしまったんだ」 14歳の少年にとってチェルシーというエリートコースからの脱落の衝撃は非常に大きかったと思われる。だが、ライスは以降もプロフットボーラーになるという自身の夢に向けて、懸命に努力を重ねていたという。 「チェルシーから放出された後はフルアムとウェストハムのどちらかと契約できるという幸運な機会が訪れた。そして、僕はウェストハムを選び、自分のキャリアにおける新たな章をスタートしたよ」 「プロになるためにより厳しい状況になることはわかっていたけど、プロフットボーラーは子供の頃からずっと夢に描いてきたものだった。だから、その夢を実現するために一生懸命努力を続けたし、チェルシーでの挫折がマイナスな影響を及ぼすようなことはなかったよ」 「僕は元々、一途な性格だし、常に自分のベストを尽くしたいと考えているんだ。幾つかの犠牲を払い、自宅を離れて新しい挑戦の場に向かう必要があった。だけど、これまで自分が下したすべての決断が本当にうまくいったと感じているよ」 チェルシーアカデミーからの放出という挫折が現在のライスを形成していることは間違いないが、今夏あるいは将来的に古巣に帰還を果たすことになるのか…。 2020.04.26 14:25 Sun

足首があらぬ方向に…試合中のアクシデントに負傷させてしまった相手選手が号泣

ウェストハム戦後に怒り心頭のウルブスMFレミナが主将剥奪
