リバプールのセネガル代表FWサディオ・マネが、イングランドのプロサッカー選手協会(PFA)主催のファン投票で年間最優秀選手に選ばれた。

今シーズンのマネは18ゴール9アシストを記録。リバプール加入以降自己ベストと言える成績で30年ぶりのリーグ優勝に大きく貢献した。

ファン投票でマネは全体の41%の票を獲得。マンチェスター・シティのベルギー代表MFケビン・デ・ブライネ(27%)と、チームメイトのイングランド代表DFトレント・アレクサンダー=アーノルド(17%)を大きく上回る結果となった。

なお、リバプールでは同賞を獲得したのは2001年の創設以降、スティーブン・ジェラード、ラウール・メイレレス、ルイス・スアレス、モハメド・サラーに続いて5人目。

また、今季のリバプールで個人賞を獲得したのは、プレミアリーグの最優秀監督に選ばれたユルゲン・クロップ監督、若手最優秀選手賞を受賞したDFトレント・アレクサンダー=アーノルド、そしてイングランド・サッカー記者協会(FWA)選出の最優秀選手となったMFジョーダン・ヘンダーソンに続く4人目となった。
