地元出身のマクニールは、自身がファンと公言するユナイテッドのアカデミーから10歳のときにシティのアカデミーに移籍。在籍6年間で600ゴールを挙げるなど、卓越した決定力を武器に台頭。昨年にはU-16イングランド代表にも選出された逸材だ。
シティはその逸材の残留を望んでいたものの、マクニールが契約延長を固辞。先月に同選手は自身の公式SNSを通じて退団を発表していた。
これにより、マクニールに対してはRBライプツィヒ、リーズ・ユナイテッド、ウォルバーハンプトンといったクラブが獲得に関心を示している。
そういった中、逸材の獲得レースに新たに参戦したのが、ユナイテッドだ。
現時点でシティとマクニールの契約状況は不透明な状況にあり、シティサイドは獲得を狙うクラブに対して、100万ポンド(約1億3000万円)前後の移籍金を要求しているようだ。
そのため、取引相手がライバルクラブということもあり、今後クラブ間の交渉がこじれる可能性があるようだ。

新SD就任のユナイテッド、今夏の補強に向けた助っ人も…ライプツィヒやチェルシーでTD務めたヴィヴェル氏と短期契約へ
マンチェスター・ユナイテッドが首脳陣の陣容を固めている。『The Athletic』が報じた。 ジム・ラトクリフ新共同オーナーの下、チームだけでなくクラブ全体のテコ入れを図っているユナイテッド。1日には、ニューカッスルとの交渉が難航していたダン・アシュワース氏のスポーツ・ディレクター(SD)就任を発表した。 ここに加わると見られるのが、以前チェルシーでテクニカル・ディレクター(TD)を務めていたクリストファー・ヴィヴェル氏(37)。今夏の移籍市場における助っ人として、ひとまず短期間の契約を結ぶという。 ヴィヴェル氏はタレントの発掘や選手のリクルートに関する専門知識を提供。また、複数クラブをモデルとした運営知識を持ち込むことも期待されている。 かつてはホッフェンハイムでスカウトや分析官を務め、2015年11月からはRBライプツィヒのTDとして、全年齢層を対象としたリクルートやスカウティングを担当。レッドブル社のサッカー部門全体のチーム作りと人材採用も担っていた。 チェルシーのTDには2022年12月に就任。2022年5月からオーナーとなったトッド・ベーリー氏に代わり業務をこなしていたが、わずか半年余りの2023年7月に袂を分かっていた。 2024.07.02 22:27 Tue
