EFLリーグ2(イングランド4部相当)のニューポート・カウンティは1月31日、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドからイングランド人FWチャーリー・マクニール(19)の半年レンタルを発表した。
元々ユナイテッドのスクール生だったマクニールだが、かつて宿敵シティの下部組織に在籍した過去。そのシティユース時代に600以上のゴールを決めたストライカーとして将来が嘱望されるなか、2020年10月から再びユナイテッドのアカデミーに場所を移した。
そんな注目株は昨年9月のヨーロッパリーグ(EL)でトップチームデビュー。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)中に行われたスペインでのキャンプにも参加したが、デビュー戦を最後に出番なく、U-21チームが活躍の場となるなか、この後半戦から修行が決まった。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのオランダ代表DFタイレル・マラシアが独自のファッションセンスを披露した。
対人での粘り強さと攻撃センスを持ち味に台頭する左サイドバックは、4年契約で今季フェイエノールトからユナイテッドへ加入した。
プレミアリーグ開幕節の終盤に新天地デビューを果たすと、第2節のハーフタイムで起用されて以降は定位置を確保。代表でも25日のUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2022-23のベルギー代表戦に後半の頭から出場している。
そのマラシアは27日に自身のSNSを更新。ヒップホップアーティストFutureによる『Krazy but True』の歌詞を引用して「ファッションで俺より大きな影響力を持つのは誰?」と、駐車場にて私服やタトゥーを公開し、センスに自信を覗かせた。
披露したのは緑の柄が入ったシャツとスニーカーに白のパンツ、サングラスというコーディネートと、背中一面に施されたタトゥー。これにユナイテッドのチームメイトであるFWチャーリー・マクニールが「モデルじゃん」と反応すれば、やFWアンソニー・エランガも感嘆のコメントを残している。
そのほか、オランダ代表FWコーディ・ガクポやオランダ生まれのキックボクサー、タイフン・オズジャンも炎の絵文字で反応。サポーターからも「最高のポンド」、「ドープだぜ」、「ビッグチューン」、「クレイジーマラシア」、「ビースト」、「スター少年」などの熱い声が寄せられているなど、上昇気流に乗る23歳はプレーでもピッチ外でもセンスをいかんなく発揮している。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドは既報通り、リバプールの16歳逸材の引き抜きに成功した。イギリス『スポーツ・バイブル』が報じている。
リバプールのアカデミー出身のイングランド人MFイーサン・エニス(16)は、足元の技術、視野の広さ、正確なキックを特長とする178cmの攻撃型MFだ。昨シーズンにリバプールのU-18チームから招集を受けると、公式戦8試合で5ゴール1アシストの見事な活躍を披露していた。
エニスは27日、自身のインスタグラムでオールド・トラッフォードでの写真を公開。ユナイテッドのユニフォームを手にする姿と同時に、加入にあたってのコメントを寄せている。
「マンチェスター・ユナイテッドにサインしたことをお知らせできてうれしく思います。この機会に感謝しています。始めるのが待ちきれません」
イギリス『デイリー・メール』によれば、ユナイテッドはリバプールにまだ移籍金を支払ってはいないものの、リバプール側がそれを要求するだろうとのことだ。
ユナイテッドは昨年にもマンチェスター・シティのアカデミーからイングランド代表FWチャーリー・マクニール(17)を引き抜いている。加入前の数字を含め、マクニールはU-18プレミアリーグで24試合21得点の結果を残した。
マクニールにとっては移籍は成功だった言えるだろう。今回のエニスも同様の活躍が期待されているが、気になるのは禁断の移籍という点だ。リバプールとユナイテッド間の移籍に関しては、これまでもたった9名しか実現していない。それだけに、エニスに注目が集まるのは仕方がない。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドが先日にマンチェスター・シティのアカデミー退団を発表したU-16イングランド代表FWチャーリー・マクニール(16)の獲得に動いているようだ。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が報じている。
地元出身のマクニールは、自身がファンと公言するユナイテッドのアカデミーから10歳のときにシティのアカデミーに移籍。在籍6年間で600ゴールを挙げるなど、卓越した決定力を武器に台頭。昨年にはU-16イングランド代表にも選出された逸材だ。
シティはその逸材の残留を望んでいたものの、マクニールが契約延長を固辞。先月に同選手は自身の公式SNSを通じて退団を発表していた。
これにより、マクニールに対してはRBライプツィヒ、リーズ・ユナイテッド、ウォルバーハンプトンといったクラブが獲得に関心を示している。
そういった中、逸材の獲得レースに新たに参戦したのが、ユナイテッドだ。
『デイリー・メール』によると、ユナイテッドは元アカデミープレーヤーの獲得に自信を示しているが、移籍金を巡るシティとの交渉がネックになる可能性があるという。
現時点でシティとマクニールの契約状況は不透明な状況にあり、シティサイドは獲得を狙うクラブに対して、100万ポンド(約1億3000万円)前後の移籍金を要求しているようだ。
そのため、取引相手がライバルクラブということもあり、今後クラブ間の交渉がこじれる可能性があるようだ。
