デュッセルドルフは24日、チェルシーからイングランド人MFルイス・ベイカー(24)を買い取りオプション付きのレンタル移籍で獲得した。

デュッセルドルフ加入の決まったベイカーは、クラブの公式サイトで以下のように喜びを語った。

｢デュセルドルフとの交渉が上手くまとまってとても嬉しいよ。ブンデスリーガは世界トップリーグの1つだし、ここでプレーすることは僕にとって大きな挑戦になるだろうね。新しいチームメートに会うのが待ちきれないよ｣

チェルシーのアカデミー出身の攻撃的MFであるベイカーは、2014年1月にトップチームデビューを果たすも、スターが揃うトップチームでは出場機会が得られず、国内下部クラブやフィテッセなどにレンタル移籍を繰り返すと昨シーズンはリーズ・ユナイテッドへ加入。リーズではシーズン後半から主力に定着すると、公式戦33試合に出場し1ゴール2アシストを記録した。
