マンチェスター・シティに所属するドイツ代表MFイルカイ・ギュンドアンが、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)制覇の重要性を口にした。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えている。

ジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督を指揮官に迎えて以来、真のトップクラブへの道を駆け上がり続けているシティ。昨シーズンには勝ち点を大台の「100」に乗せてプレミアリーグ制覇を成し遂げ、現在では欧州最強の一角と目されている。

しかし、ギュンドアンは、レアル・マドリーやバルセロナ、バイエルンといった国際舞台でも常に結果を残しているクラブに並び、本当の意味での“エリートクラブ”に名を連ねるためには、CLの制覇が不可欠だと考えているようだ。

「国際的なエリートになりたいなら、クラブとしても選手としてもそうなりたいと思うなら、あのトロフィー(CL)を獲得する必要がある」
