ダイアー、壮絶半生明かした“弟”デレ・アリを思い涙…「彼のためにもっと何かできなかったのか、それに腹を立てている」
トッテナムのイングランド代表DFエリック・ダイアーが、先日に壮絶な半生を明かした“弟”を思って涙した。イギリス『フットボール・ロンドン』が伝えている。 先日、エバートンの元イングランド代表MFデレ・アリ(27)は、イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』でコメンテーターを務めるガリー・ネビル氏の『The Overlap』のロングインタビューで、自身のこれまでの半生を振り返った。 そのインタビューでは幼少期の性的虐待被害、麻薬取引、薬物依存症というセンセーショナルな内容を含め、これまでの壮絶な人生が明かされた。そして、同選手の勇敢な告白に多くのクラブやかつての同僚から支援の声が挙がっていた。 そのインタビューの際、デレ・アリがイングランド代表FWハリー・ケインと共に多くのことを学んだチームメイトとして名前を挙げられていたダイアーは、プレシーズンツアーで訪れたシンガポールでのチャリティー活動の場で“弟”について初めて言及。 デレ・アリのこれまでの境遇に涙をこぼす姿を見せ、“弟”を助けるためにもっと何かできればよかったと後悔の念をにじませている。 「確かに、(インタビューを)見るのはつらかったよ」 「たくさんのこと、すべてではないけど、かなりのことはすでに知っていたんだ。ちょうど1週間前に彼と一緒にいて、彼は僕の結婚式に出席してくれたんだ」 「それについて何と言ったらいいのか分からないよ。ただ、彼に直接言っていないことは何も言いたくないんだ。僕ならそんなことはされたくないからね。僕にとって、それは見るのはつらく、ひどく動揺するものだった」 「僕の圧倒的な感情は、彼にも伝えたけど、おそらく自分が彼のためにもっと何かできなかったのか、それに腹を立てているのだと思う」 デレ・アリが語った内容のほとんどを知っていたと語ったダイアーだが、幼少期の性的虐待被害については知らなかったという。 「それについては気づいていなかった。気づいていたことと気づいていないことがあった」 「昔、僕は彼と一緒にミルトン・キーンズに行き、彼は育った場所を案内してくれたんだ。彼は僕に彼のすべてを見せてくれた。だから、彼の絵の輪郭やフレームについては知っていた。だけど、絵そのものは知らなかった」 また、デレ・アリは前述のインタビューでダイアーを含むトッテナムのチームメイトについて、涙ながらに以下のように語っていた。 「彼ら全員は僕が何をしているのか本当に知っていたとは思えないし、僕はそれを彼らには隠していたし、正直には話していなかった」 「エリック・ダイアーのような人たち、彼は素晴らしい友人だと思う。自分の本当の友達が誰であるか、ただイエスとだけは言わない人たちだということが分かる」 「エリック、ハリー、ソニー(ソン・フンミン)、ベン(・デイビス)のような人たちだ。彼らがもし僕のやっていることを知っていたら、怖れることなく僕に対して、その行為を認めないと言ってくれるそんな人たちなんだ」 「特にハリーとエリック、あの二人は残酷なほど正直者なんだ。彼らが僕と対峙したとき、それは他のプレーヤーの前では決してなかった。時々彼らは僕の顔を見て何かを感じ取っていたと思う。彼らを前に隠すのは難しかった。その際、彼らは間違いなく僕の振る舞いに満足していなかったと思う」 そのインタビューの内容について質問を受けたダイアーは、自身の過去の振る舞いへの後悔もあってかすすり泣くと共に、しばし気持ちを落ち着かせた後に、“弟”への思いを改めて語った。 「僕はこのことについて公の場で話すのはあまり好きではないんだ。なぜならここが自分の居場所だとは思えないからだ。彼とある程度話したことなら、何でも喜んで話すよ」 「彼は僕にとっても素晴らしい友人で、今でもそれは変わらないよ」 「彼はただ…。申し訳ないけど、今は話すのは難しいよ…」 その後、気持ちを落ち着けたイングランド代表DFは、薬物依存症を克服するためにリハビリ施設に通っていたデレ・アリの近況についても言及。当時のやり取りの際に同選手を怒らせてしまったことを明かしている。 「彼がリハビリ施設にいたとき、僕は彼がリハビリ施設にいることを知っていた。彼がそこにいる間、何度か彼に話しかけ、メッセージも送ったんだ。なぜなら、僕は結婚式を挙げる予定だったからね」 「僕は彼に『(結婚式に)間に合うかどうか分からないね』と言ったんだ。明らかに、彼が何を経験しているか分かっていたからね。だけど、彼は僕のその発言によって自分が侮辱されたと感じていたんだ」 「彼は自分があらゆることを経験しているにもかかわらず、自分が(これまで世話になった)僕の結婚式にいないことが想像もできなかったようだったよ」 「彼はそういうタイプの人間なんだ。分かるかな? デレは黄金の心を持っているんだ。彼は本当にそういう素晴らしい男なんだよ。だからこそ、僕は自分自身に腹を立てているし、彼のためにもっと何かできなかったかという事実に失望しているんだ」 「彼は僕にとっても素晴らしい友人だ。それは決して一方通行のものではない。彼は長い間、僕にとってとても意味のある多くのことをしてくれた。彼は、僕が彼に必要な場合、今すぐにでも電話できると知っている人だ。もしも、ここシンガポールで彼を必要とすることがれば、彼は間違いなくここに来てくれるはずだ。彼はそういう友人なんだ」 最後に、ダイアーは多くのフットボールファン同様に、デレ・アリがワールドクラスと評されたトッテナム時代初期のパフォーマンスを取り戻すことを強く願う。 「明らかに、それは誰もが望んでいることだよ。彼はまだとても若い。そして、彼がまだやりたいことは何でもできる、それがフットボールの美しさだ。もちろん、それは彼次第だ。それは本当に彼の手の中にある」 「自分たちがコントロールできるものはすべて、プレーヤーとして常にコントロールできることだけだ。もちろん監督が決断を下すことになるし、クラブが決断を下すことになるだろうけど、プレーヤーとして僕らにできるのは自分たちがコントロールできることをコントロールすることだけだ。それは自分たちが良いプレーをするための最高のチャンスを与えることになるんだ」 2023.07.28 18:13 Fri

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
