トッテナム移籍後キャリア停滞のスペンス、コンテ元監督への不満吐露「ほとんど関係性がなかった」
ジェノアのU-21イングランド代表DFジェド・スペンスが、アントニオ・コンテ元監督の下で戦ったトッテナムでの半年を振り返った。 2022年夏にノッティンガム・フォレストからトッテナムへステップアップを果たしたスペンス。当時指揮を執っていたコンテ監督の信頼を掴めず、半年後にスタッド・レンヌへレンタル移籍となった。 今シーズンはチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のリーズ・ユナイテッドへ武者修行となったが、ケガなどもありレギュラー定着には至らず。冬にはレンタル先がジェノアへ変わっている。 イタリアの地で再浮上を目指すスペンスは、イギリス『The Athletic』のインタビューに応じ、トッテナムでの半年間に言及。難しい時期だったと嘆いている。 「良い時間を過ごせなかった。トッテナムに行ってもプレーできず、僕にとってハードだったのは明らかだ。選手としてどこかのビッグクラブと契約する時は、自信に満ち溢れ、両手を広げて歓迎されたいものだ。でも実際に加入すると、そんな感じではなかった。計画通りではなかった」 「チャンスが得られない時、選手としてできることはあまりない。道に迷い、プレーできず、リズムを取り戻すのが難しくなる。物事がうまくいかない時に新しい環境へ行くのは決して簡単ではないが、それもサッカーの一部だ。これも勉強だ」 また、プレータイムをほとんど与えてもらえなかったコンテ監督についてもコメント。選手のことを大事にしているとは感じられなかったようだ。 「正直なところ、彼とはほとんど関係性がなかった。彼は自分なりのやり方を持っている監督だ。選手たちとはあまり関係性を築いていないと思う。練習に来て、練習して… それだけだ」 一方、飛躍のきっかけを掴んだフォレスト時代の恩師、スティーブ・クーパー元監督には大きな信頼を寄せていた模様。人柄の良さを語っている。 「スティーブ・クーパーは良い人だし、人の気持ちを理解してくれる」 「彼は素晴らしい監督だ。選手としても人間としても僕を理解してくれた。それは僕にとって大事なことだ。彼はイングランド代表のユースでも監督をした経験があり、若い選手やさまざまな背景を持つ選手との付き合い方を知っていた。彼は僕をありのままにさせてくれた」 「クーパーの場合は、僕に自信を持たせてくれるし、質問もしてくれる。普通の人間のように話しかけてくれる。それはフットボールにおいて大きな役割を果たす。僕らはただ仕事に行ってボタンを押し、務めを果たしたり、プレーするだけの存在ではない。僕らは人間で、交流が好きで、話すことが好きだ」 2024.03.09 21:13 Sat

充実のスカッド誇るインテル、タレミ&ジエリンスキも確保して…次はどこを補強?

新生インテルが「ゾマーの後継者」探しを加速へ…今夏バックアップ獲得で来季への準備なるか
新生インテルがスイス代表GKヤン・ゾマー(35)の後継者探しを加速する。 現インテルの正GKはゾマー。昨夏2年契約で加入し、スクデット奪還の立役者の1人となった国際経験も豊富な35歳だが、イタリア『カルチョメルカート」いわく、24-25シーズンで満了となる契約の延長は十中八九ないという。 オークツリーへの体制移行で“慧眼”ジュゼッペ・マロッタ氏が新会長となるなか、今後補強活動で重要性が増していくのが、現スポーツ・ディレクター(SD)のピエロ・アウシリオ氏。幹部全員が一致するゾマーへの信頼は一旦隅におき、ゾマーの後継者探しを加速する見通しだ。 具体的な獲得候補1人目は、以前からよく名前の上がる“ブラジル国内No.1守護神”、アトレチコ・パラナエンセのブラジル代表GKベント(24)。 イタリア国籍も保有するベントは、昨秋ブラジル代表から初めてお声がかかり、今年3月の国際親善試合、イングランド代表戦とスペイン代表戦に2試合連続先発出場。2024シーズンの国内では、公式戦26試合出場で13試合無失点と「クリーンシート」の多さが光る。 ただし、獲得にはかなりのコストを要するとのことで、アウシリオSDは別の候補も準備。ジェノアの元スペイン代表GKジョゼップ・マルティネス(26)だ。 J・マルティネスはバルセロナ下部組織出身のGKで、ラス・パルマスでプロデビュー後、RBライプツィヒ時代の2021年に23歳でスペイン代表初キャップ。ライプツィヒで定位置を確保できなかったためにラ・ロハはこれっきりだが、昨季加入のジェノアで正GKとなり、今季のセリエA昇格と残留に大きく貢献した。 また、インテルはウディネーゼのナイジェリア代表GKマドゥカ・オコイェ(24)もリストアップしているそうだが、こちらは安価で獲得できるのが間違いない一方、スターターを任せられるほどの確信がない模様。 したがって今日現在、ゾマー後継者の優先順位は、1番手ベント、2番手ジョゼップ・マルティネス。オコイェは複数いる候補の1人にすぎないと位置付けられている。 インテルとしては、今夏中にベント(仮)を獲得し、1年間ゾマーのバックアップを任せて来季からポジション交代…これを理想としているようだ。 2024.06.08 14:00 Sat
