前日14日に、A代表初先発を果たし前半45分間をプレー。「1番感じたかったこと、(自分の)現状とトップとの差、日本と世界との差が感じられた」と収穫を話す一方で「課題はその『差』」と語った。
日本で「ファンタジスタ」と呼ばれても“王国"との対戦に手応えはあまりなかった。「フィジカルであったり出来ることをして、チームでしっかり結果を出したい。そこからステップアップする必要がある」。
試合後はブラジル代表FWネイマール(22)とユニホームを交換。22歳のスーパースターに4点を許し「(ネイマールは)点を取るな、という感じ。ああいうレベルの選手は取るところで取るんだと思った」。肌で感じた世界の壁をモチベーションとして、まずは18日のJ1徳島戦(鳴門大塚)に臨む。
