ワトフォードの元イングランド代表MFトム・クレバリー(31)が契約延長に至ったようだ。
クレバリーはマンチェスター・ユナイテッド下部組織出身で、2012年にイングランド代表デビュー。ユナイテッドの次代を担う中盤のひとりとして期待を集める存在だったが、2015年からエバートンに移り、2017年1月に買取りオプション付きのレンタルでワトフォードに加入した。
その3カ月後にワトフォードから買取オプションが行使され、2022年までの契約を締結。昨季も公式戦19試合1得点の数字を残したが、プレミアリーグ19位フィニッシュのチームはチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部相当)に降格した。
イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によると、クレバリーはワトフォードと新たに3年契約を結ぶ方向で合意。2023年までワトフォードの一員としてプレーすることを決断したという。
なお、ワトフォードは今季のチャンピオンシップ開幕から5試合を消化した現時点で3勝1分け1敗の5位。主将のクレバリーはその全5試合に出場している。

ワトフォード、残留に向けてピアソン監督を解任へ
