そんな中フランクフルトは9日、10日に控えるレアル・マドリーとのUEFAスーパーカップにセルビア代表MFが参加しないことを発表。合わせてスポーツ・ディレクターのマルクス・クレッシュ氏は「我々は常々、あらゆる方面から良いオファーがあれば、彼の道を邪魔することはしないし、積極的に話をしようと言ってきた。現在、他のクラブと有望な交渉中であり、解決は目前だ」と、クラブ名は明言しなかったものの、他クラブとの交渉が最終段階に入っていることが、メンバーから外れた理由であると伝えた。
