クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS) とナイキは18日、クロアチア代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。2022年のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で3位という結果を残したクロアチア。6月に開幕するユーロ2024の予選では苦しみ、同グループのトルコ代表に後れを取ったものの、2位で突破。本大会では、スペイン代表、イタリア代表、アルバニア代表と同居する“死の組”グループBに入っている。
そのユーロでも着用する新ユニフォームだが、1stユニフォームは大きくイメージチェンジ。クロアチアといえば、白と赤の市松模様が特徴だが、今回は赤と白の四角形がこれまでで最大となり、大胆な外観となっている。
一方の2ndユニフォームは、クラシックなスタイルに現代的なひねりを加え、青と紺の2色を組み合わせた市松模様を斜めの四角形で表現。これは、3位という結果を残した1998年のフランスW杯のメンバーに敬意を表しているという。
ファンの注目は、やはり市松模様が大きくなった1stユニフォームに向けられることに。「素晴らしい」、「際立っている」という意見もあるものの、「史上最悪のデザインだ」、「センスがない」、「ポーランドのユニフォームに見えた」、「これ以上酷いものは見たことがない」、「これは恥ずかしい」などと否定的な意見が大半となっている。
