今シーズン限りでレスター・シティを退団することが決まっている元イングランド代表FWジェイミー・ヴァーディが主審デビューを果たした。
試合は44分にジョルダン・アイェウもゴールを決め、レスターが2-0で勝利を収め、実にリーグ戦12試合ぶりの白星となった。なお、サウサンプトンの日本代表DF菅原由勢はメンバー外だった。
レスターの残り時間が少ないヴァーディだが、ピッチ上では主審の代わりを務める珍事があった。
ただ、選手たちはこの事態に気が付かずにプレーを続行。すると、ヴァーディが主審のもとに駆け寄り、手に持っていたホイッスルを吹いて試合を止めていた。

3日、プレミアリーグ第35節が行われ、レスターはサウサンプトンと対戦した。共に今シーズンの降格が決定している中、ヴァーディは今季限りで13年過ごしたレスターを退団することが決定。そんな中、先発出場を果たすと、17分には先制ゴールを記録。レスター通算199ゴール目を決め、200ゴールに王手をかけた。レスターの残り時間が少ないヴァーディだが、ピッチ上では主審の代わりを務める珍事があった。

奇跡のプレミア優勝も経験したヴァーディが13年過ごしたレスターを退団「信じられないほど素晴らしい時間を過ごした」
