名門アヤックスユースで育ったダービッツ氏は、1991年にトップチームデビュー。アヤックスでは、数々のタイトル制覇に大きく貢献した。

この活躍が認められ、1996年にミランへ加入するもケガやフロントとの確執から1997-98シーズン途中にユベントスへ移籍。ユベントスでは、シーズン途中加入ながらスクデット獲得に大きく貢献し信頼を勝ち取ると、2003-04シーズンにバルセロナへレンタル移籍するまで、在籍6年間で公式戦243試合に出場した。

1999年の1月26日に行われたコッパ・イタリア準々決勝、ボローニャとの2ndレグでは見事なゴールを決めている。

0-0で迎えた78分、中盤から持ち上がったダービッツは、ゴールまで25m以上の距離があったものの、そのまま利き足である左足を一閃。グングンと伸びたボールは相手GKフランチェスコ・アントニオーリに触ることすら許させず、ゴール左上隅に突き刺さった。

この強烈なシュートには、ゴールネットの裏にいた警備員も思わず顔を背けており、その威力の程が分かる圧巻のシュートだった。
