スキラッチの思い出/六川亨の日本サッカー見聞録
元イタリア代表のストライカーで、90年の自国W杯では得点王とMVPを獲得し、Jリーグの磐田でもプレーしたサルバトーレ・スキラッチ氏が9月19日、59歳で他界した。 シチリア島パレルモ出身で、柳沢敦もプレーした地元のメッシーナやユベントス、インテル・ミラノなどの名門クラブでプレーしたが、一番のハイライトは90年イタリアW杯だろう。 イタリアは82年スペインW杯で得点王になったパオロ・ロッシを擁して3度目の世界1に輝いた。4年後のメキシコW杯ではサンプドリアのジャンルカ・ヴィアリが台頭し、ベテランのアレッサンドロ・アルトベリと2トップを組んだが、決勝トーナメント1回戦でプラティニ率いるフランスに0-2で敗れた。 こうして迎えた自国でのW杯、大会直前に代表メンバーに抜擢されたのがスキラッチだった。イタリアは、優勝候補の一角に上げられていたものの、ダントツの優勝候補は前回優勝のマラドーナ率いるアルゼンチン、2大会連続準優勝でインテルのローター・マテウス擁する西ドイツだった。 これに2年前のEUROで初戴冠したオランダ、ポール・ガスコインやデイビット・プラットらこれまでにないタイプの選手が出現し出したイングランドがダークホースといったところ。“サッカー王国”ブラジルは世代交代でドゥンガ、ジョルジーニョ、ミューレルらが台頭してきたものの、下馬評はかつてないほど低かった。 イタリアはグループリーグから準々決勝までローマに居座って試合ができるアドバンテージがあったものの、得点力不足に悩まされた。初戦のスタメン2トップはヴィアリと、ナポリのセリエA初優勝に貢献したアンドレア・カルネバーレ。しかし75分まで0-0で進んだため、カルネバーレに代わってスキラッチが起用された。するとスキラッチは3分後に決勝点を奪って大会初勝利を母国にもたらしたのだった。 続く第2戦のアメリカ戦もスキラッチはベンチスタートで、カルネバーレと交代出場もノーゴールだったが、チームは1-0の勝利を収めて連勝を飾った。 スキラッチ、そしてイタリアにとって転機となったのが第3戦のチェコスロバキア戦だった。不調のカルネバーリに代わりスキラッチがスタメンに定着。そしてヴィアリに代わりロベルト・バッジョがFWに入ってスキラッチと2トップを組んだ。これが奏功し、チェコ戦はスキラッチの先制点、バッジョの追加点で2-0の勝利。4度目の優勝へ、ようやく視界が開けたと思われた。 決勝トーナメント1回戦のウルグアイ戦はスキラッチの先制点と交代出場のアルド・セレナの追加点で難敵を2-0で退ける。準々決勝の相手は正攻法ながら粘り強さを武器にするアイルランド。この試合も前半にスキラッチのあげた1点を守って1-0で逃げ切った。5試合を終えて失点はゼロ。イタリアらしい勝ち上がり方でもあった。 こうして迎えた準決勝、会場はナポリ、そして相手はアルゼンチンだった。この試合でもスキラッチは輝いた。前半17分に先制点でチームを勇気づける。しかし後半にカニーヒアに大会初失点を許し、試合は1-1のまま延長でも決着がつかずPK戦にもつれこんだ。 PK戦はアルゼンチンGKゴイコチェアの好セーブもあり、4-3でアルゼンチンが決勝戦にコマを進めた。アルゼンチンはラストキッカーのマラドーナのシュートでイタリアを下したが、試合中の大ブーイングにマラドーナが涙したのも印象に残るナポリの夜だった。 スキラッチはバーリで行われたイングランドとの3位決定戦でも、バッジョの先制点に続き85分に決勝点を決めてチームを3位に導いた。交代出場も含め大会全7試合に出場して6ゴール。カテナチオで相手の失点を最小限に防ぎ、僅差の勝利を得意とするイタリアにとって、スキラッチの存在がなければイタリアW杯が後世に語り継がれるトピックも今より少なかったのではないだろうか。 年齢の割には老け顔で、現役時代はちょっと悪投面でもあったが、ゴール後のパフォーマンスでは全身で喜びを表現するなどイタリア人らしい選手だった。94年からは磐田でプレーしたのは周知のところ。この頃には「角が取れた」というか、柔和な表情も見せるようになった。 あまりにも早すぎる逝去は残念でならないが、謹んで哀悼の意を表します。 文・六川亨 <span class="paragraph-title">【動画】他界したスキラッチ氏、ジュビロでのゴール!</span> <span data-other-div="movie"></span> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-media-max-width="560"><p lang="ja" dir="ltr"> (@J_League) <a href="https://twitter.com/J_League/status/1837295684203975023?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 21, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> 2024.09.21 10:55 Sat
