予選無敗でグループ首位に立つベルギーは13日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループE第9節でエストニア代表をホームに迎えた。立ち上がりからボールを支配すると、デ・ブライネのサイドチェンジを起点に11分にFWクリスティアン・ベンテケのゴールで幸先よく先制に成功。勢いづくベルギーは24分にもデ・ブライネが魅せる。
自陣の最も深い位置でコントロールしたDFヤン・ヴェルトンゲンからデ・ブライネがボールを受ける。自陣のボックス内ではプレッシャーもなく、ターンからやや持ち運んだところで、動き出したFWエデン・アザールを確認して浮き球のパス。高いラインを敷いていたエストニアの背後を一発で取り、GKとの一対一を演出した。
時間にしてわずか10秒強。ビッグチャンスを迎えたアザールは余裕があり過ぎたのか、GKをかわそうとして戻ってきたDFに捕まってしまった。決まっていれば、2018年ロシアW杯で世界に衝撃を与えた"ロストフの14秒"の再現となるところだった。
視野の広さと技術、判断力で高速カウンターからチャンスを導いたデ・ブライネ。ゴールからこれだけ遠い位置であっても、自由にボールを持った時には何かを起こす雰囲気を秘めている。

レアル・マドリーのベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワと、妻でモデルのミシェル・ゲルジグさんがハネムーンを楽しんでいる。
およそ1年前、交際していた2人はイタリアのアマルフィ海岸で婚約。シーズンを終えたこのタイミングで、結婚式を執り行った。
プレウェディング・パーティーでの姿も大きな話題となったが、クルトワは新シーズンを始める前にハネムーンを満喫していることを報告した。
2人はインスタグラムを更新。フランス領ポリネシアのボラボラ島を訪れた様子。透き通った海で幸せそうな姿を披露した。

▽ベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワ(26)の代理人が、所属元のチェルシーにレアル・マドリー移籍の許可を嘆願しているようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じた。
▽かねてよりマドリーへの移籍が取り沙汰されているクルトワ。今夏は特に報道が過熱しており、一時は契約目前とまで噂されていたが、未だ具体的な動きはなし。今月初めにはチェルシーが3100万ポンド(約45億円)でのオファーを拒否したと伝えられており、交渉終了とも見られている。
▽『スカイ・スポーツ』も、契約の残りが1年となっているクルトワに関して、チェルシー側がマドリーと再交渉することはないだろう、と主張している。しかしながら、クルトワの代理人を務めるクリストフ・ヘンロタイ氏は、今でもマドリー移籍を後押ししていることを明かした。
「チェルシーがティボー(・クルトワ)次第と言っているという話はよく目にするが、マドリー移籍が彼にとって最善だということは、クラブ(チェルシー)側にも明確に示してきた」
「家族の傍に居たいと思っている彼にとって、大きな決断なんだ。チェルシーが受け入れるべきオファーだよ」
「お金の問題だという指摘は把握している。ただ、(契約切れ前に)彼が移籍することで増加させられるのも事実だ」

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にベルギー代表の正守護神として出場したクルトワ。4年前のロシアW杯では3位に輝いたチームだけに、それ以上の成績を目指して戦った。
しかし、初戦のカナダ代表戦では勝利を収めたものの、第2戦のモロッコ代表戦では敗戦。最終戦ではクロアチア代表に引き分け、まさかのグループ3位で敗退という憂き目に遭ってしまった。

ベルギー2部で珍妙なオウンゴールが生まれてしまった。
5日、首位に立つウェステルローは下位に沈むムスクロンをホームに迎えた。だが、使い慣れたはずのホームスタジアムの芝は、GKにいたずらを仕掛けたようだ。
立ち上がりの10分、ウェステルローは左サイドバックのDFクヤ・マベアがバックパス。ゴールの枠を外し、自陣のボックス左でこれを処理しようとしたGKデイビッド・イェンセンだったが、まさかのキックミスをしてしまう。
不規則に跳ねていたために当て損ね、ボールはゴール方向へ。それでも角度が浅かったために、辛うじて枠を外れていたように思えたが、回転も相まってか、最後のバウンド後にキュっと枠内へと向かいネットを揺らした。
想定外の失点にショックを隠せず、うつ伏せとなるGK。立ち上がった後にもピッチに向けて何か悪態をついていうようにも見える。
これで動揺したのかホームチームはさらに失点を喫し、前半を0-2で終えることに。ただ、後半に攻撃陣が奮起し、最終的には4-3で逆転勝ちを収めている。
