データおよびテクノロジーにおけるリーディングカンパニーの「ニールセン・グレースノート」が、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場する選手のインフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表した。
なでしこジャパンも出場する女子W杯。開幕までおよそ1カ月となった中で、各国の出場選手も決定している。
「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。
トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。
1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。
アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。
2位には、バルセロナのエースでありスペイン女子代表のエースでもあるMFアレクシア・プテジャス。フォロワーは280万人であり、1位のレーマンがどれほどのフォロワーを抱えているかがわかる。
2シーズン連続でUEFA年間最優秀女子選手、バロンドールを受賞。2021年にはFIFA最優秀女子選手賞を受賞している。
2022年にはスペイン女子初となる代表100キャップに到達。その後、前十字じん帯を損傷し女子ユーロは欠場していた。
3位は、サンディエゴ・ウェーブスに所属するアメリカ女子代表FWアレックス・モーガン。フォロワーは1000万人だが、増加率やエンゲージメント率が低く、価値は3位となった。
言わずと知れたアメリカのエースで、過去2度のW杯優勝を経験。2012年のロンドン・オリンピックでは金メダルを獲得している。アメリカ女子代表として200キャップ以上を記録し、120ゴール以上を決めている。

プレーヤーとしての注目はもちろんのこと、インフルエンサーとしても注目を集める選手が多い女子W杯。残念ながらなでしこジャパンの選手はトップ10に入らなかったが、注目したいところだ。

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。
FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。
昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。
アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。
さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。

イングランドサッカー協会(FA)は26日、イングランド代表のコーチにジャスティン・コクラン氏(43)が就任することを発表した。
トーマス・トゥヘル監督が就任し、初の活動を3月に控えているイングランド。2026年の北中米ワールドカップ予選がスタートする中で、新たなコーチングスタッフが決定した。
コクラン氏は、クイーンズ・パーク・レンジャーズ(QPR)でキャリアをスタート。イングランドやアメリカでプレーし、2013年7月に現役を引退。引退前からトッテナムのアカデミーのスタッフとして働くと、U-15、U-16、U-17のイングランド代表の監督も務めていた。
イングランド代表の育成に携わってきたコクラン氏は、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドの育成ディレクターも務め、現在はブレントフォードでトーマス・フランク監督の右腕として指導にあたっている。
FAによれば、ブレントフォードとは兼任となるとのこと。トゥヘル監督は、アシスタントコーチのアンソニー・バリー氏、GKコーチのエンリケ・イラリオ氏、パフォーマンスコーチのニコラス・マイヤー氏らがいるコーチングスタッフの最後のメンバーとして迎えることを決めたという。

ウェストハムMFデクラン・ライスとチェルシーMFメイソン・マウントの親友コンビが憧れのスリーライオンズで夢のようなゴール共演を果たした。
イングランド代表は18日、UEFAネーションズリーグ2020-21リーグA・グループ2最終節でアイスランド代表と対戦し、4-0で快勝した。
そして、同試合では前半の20分にMFフィル・フォーデンのFKに頭で合わせたライスが待望の代表初ゴールを挙げると、その4分後にはセットプレーの二次攻撃からマウントが代表通算3ゴール目を奪取。主役の座は2ゴール1アシストのフォーデンに譲ることになったが、ライスとマウントの2人にとっては子供の頃の夢を叶えた最高の試合となった。
共にロンドン生まれ、チェルシーのアカデミー育ちの両選手は8歳の頃からの親友で、14歳の時にライスが放出の憂き目に遭った際にはマウントの母親が涙を流すなど、家族ぐるみの付き合いをしてきた。
その後、マウントが順調にチェルシーで活躍を続ける一方、ライスは新天地ウェストハムでブレイクを果たし、両者はプレミアリーグでは良きライバル、イングランド代表では中盤の相棒として切磋琢磨を続けている。
そして、このアイスランド戦ではついに同じ試合でゴールを挙げるという、まるで夢のような瞬間を共有することになった。
同試合後、殊勲のライスとマウントはイギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』のポストマッチインタビューで、ゴール共演を振り返っている。
まずはライスが、「中盤で一緒にプレーできることを知った時、それ自体が特別な瞬間だったよ。さらに、同じ試合でゴールを決められるなんて信じられないことだよ」と、素直な感動を伝えた。
一方、マウントは親友とのゴール共演を喜びながらも、新型コロナウィルスの影響により、無観客開催が続く中、相棒と自身を支えてきた互いの家族がスタジアムで同じ喜びを共有できなかったことを残念に感じている。
「もしもファンの入場が許可されていれば、彼ら(両家族)は一緒に見守ってくれていたはずさ。彼らは僕がデビューした時も一緒にいたし、デク(ライス)と初めて一緒にプレーした時もね。僕らは彼らと共に特別な思い出を共有してきたからね」
「僕らは小さい頃から親友だし、これからもより多くの素晴らしい思い出を作っていけたら最高だね」
なお、ハマーズで守備的MFとセンターバックで印象的な活躍を続けるライスにはフランク・ランパード監督が以前から熱視線を注いでおり、今冬、あるいは来夏にはチェルシーでの親友コンビの共演も期待されている。

イングランド代表MFジェシー・リンガードがお披露目したゴールパフォーマンスにコメントした。
先のユーロこそメンバー落ちしたものの、今月の代表活動に参加するリンガード。5日にホームで行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループI第5節のアンドラ代表戦に先発すると、2得点1アシストの活躍を披露した。
リンガードは試合後、『beIN SPORTS』で「最高だね。イングランド代表のシャツを着るのはいつだって素晴らしいこことだが、母国のためにゴールを決めて、それが良い結果に繋がるとパーフェクトだ」と喜びの心境を明かした。
また、18分の先制ゴール時にこれまでの両手を使って顔の前でポーズを決める仕草にプラスして、助走から飛び上がり、180度回転しての着地するパフォーマンスも披露。ポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドを彷彿とさせた。
その理由も問われると、代表でチームメイトのMFメイソン・マウントと試合前に話し合いの末、C・ロナウドのマンチェスター・ユナイテッド復帰を祝う意味も込め、オマージュすることにしたようだ。
「今週、メイソンとセレブレーションを考えるなかで、僕のやつとC・ロナウドのやつをミックスしたんだ。で、僕がゴールを決めたら、それをやると言ったのさ。あれはちょっとしたウェルカム・ギフトだ。彼はすぐに馴染むだろうし、今季のチームに大きく貢献してくれるはずさ」
