アストン・ビラは10日、クラブの新しいエンブレムを発表した。
ビラは6月からクラブのエンブレムデザインを変更することを検討。現在のエンブレムを含めた3つのパターンでファン投票を行った結果、1982年のヨーロッパカップ優勝に敬意を表した円形のエンブレムになることが決まった。
当時のビラも円形のエンブレムを採用しており、ファン投票では実に77%がこのデザインに票を入れたという。
ただ、円形のシルエットに中央に描かれたライオンといくつかの要素がチェルシーと被ることもおり、「寄せすぎ」、「コピーだ」、「ほぼチェルシー」、「チェルシーの色違いみたいじゃん」と指摘する声も多い。
なお、今シーズン限りは現在のエンブレムが継続され、2023-24シーズンから新エンブレムが採用される。来シーズンの新ユニフォーム等も新しいエンブレムを用いたデザインになるとのことだ。
プレミアリーグで得点力不足に喘いでいたビラは10月末にスティーブン・ジェラード監督を解任。11月からウナイ・エメリ監督のもとでは得点力が改善されると同時に早速白星もあげており、ここからの巻き返しに期待がかかっている。

バレンシアは30日、アストン・ビラからアルゼンチン人MFエンソ・バレネチェア(23)を1年間のレンタル移籍で獲得したことを発表した。
母国のニューウェルズ・オールドボーイズの下部組織出身のバレネチェアは、2019年に加入したスイスのシオンでヨーロッパでのキャリアをスタート。その後、2020年1月にユベントスNext Gen(U-23チーム)に加入。セリエCに所属するクラブで主力を担うと、2022年11月に行われたパリ・サンジェルマン戦でユベントスでのファーストチームデビューを飾った。
ダイナミックなセントラルMFは昨シーズンにレンタル先のフロジノーネでセリエA36試合に出場し、今シーズンはユベントスのファーストチームでの活躍も期待されたが、ブラジル代表MFドウグラス・ルイスの獲得オペレーションに際してU-21イングランド代表MFサミュエル・イリング・ジュニア(20)と共にアストン・ビラへ完全移籍していた。
そして、今シーズンはバレンシアの地で研鑽を積むことになった。

チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)準々決勝2ndレグ、アストン・ビラvsパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)が15日に行われ、3-2でアストン・ビラが逆転勝利したが、2戦合計スコアで4-5と逃げ切ったPSGがベスト4進出としている。
先週アウェイで行われた1stレグを1-3で落としたアストン・ビラは、引き続きラッシュフォードを最前線で起用。トップ下にティーレマンスを配した。
一方、逆転勝利して2季連続ベスト4進出に近づいたPSGは同点弾を挙げたドゥエではなくバルコラを先発に起用。出場停止明けの主将マルキーニョスがスタメンとなった。
試合前にヨーロッパリーグアンセムが流れるアクシデントがあって迎えた一戦。開始2分にCKから際どいシーンを演出したアストン・ビラがアグレッシブな入りを見せたが、11分に先制したのはアストン・ビラ。
ロングカウンターの流れからバルコラが左サイドを独走。クロスをパウ・トーレスと重なってGKマルティネスが中途半端に弾いたところ、負傷により攻め残っていたハキミが押し込んだ。
3点を追う展開となったアストン・ビラはPSGにボールを持たれる中、19分にCKの流れからパウ・トーレスがGKドンナルンマ強襲のボレーで牽制。
さらに24分にはロジャーズが際どいコントロールシュートを放ったが、次にゴールを奪ったのもPSG。27分、先制ゴール同様ロングカウンターの流れからデンベレのパスをボックス中央で受けたメンデスがシュートを決めきった。
メンデスに2戦連発被弾を食らって意気消沈のアストン・ビラだったが、34分に1点を返す。ミドルカウンターの流れからティーレマンス、ラッシュフォード、マッギンが中央でうまくボールを回し、最後はボックス左のティーレマンスの放ったシュートがディフレクトしてゴールに吸い込まれた。
スタジアムの熱気が戻った中、ハーフタイムにかけてはアストン・ビラが攻め込む気概を見せて前半を終えた。
2戦合計2-5で迎えた後半、諦めないアストン・ビラが55分にゴール。自陣から中央を持ち上がったマッギンがミドルシュートを叩き込んだ。
主将の一撃で2点差としたアストン・ビラは3分後にもゴール。ラッシュフォードの鋭いカットインシュートで得たCKの流れからからラッシュフォードのマイナスクロスをコンサが蹴り込んだ。
一気に試合の様相がわからなくなった中、60分にはティーレマンスのヘディングシュートで追いつきかけたアストン・ビラだったが、ここはGKドンナルンマのビッグセーブに阻まれる。
慌てるPSGはバルコラに代えてドゥエを投入。対するアストン・ビラはアセンシオとラムジーを投入して勝負をかけた。そして70分にはアセンシオに同点の絶好機もGKドンナルンマに一対一を止められてしまう。
ヒヤリとしたPSGは76分、ヴィティーニャのパスを受けたボックス左のデンベレが切り返しから放ったシュートがGKマルティネスを強襲。
終盤にかけてはアストン・ビラの勢いを止めていた中、終了間際のマートセンのボレーをパチョが好ブロックで防いで逃げ切り。要塞ビラ・パークで敗れたものの、PSGが2季連続ベスト4進出としている。

イタリア代表のルチアーノ・スパレッティ監督が、イタリア『ガゼッタ・デッロ・スポルト』のインタビューでユーロ2024への意気込みを語った。
昨年9月にスクデット指揮官としてアッズーリを託されたスパレッティ監督。ユーロ予選途中からの指揮という、決して簡単ではない状況からの船出となったが、無事に予選突破を決めた。
全世界が注目する、“競技レベルはワールドカップ(W杯)よりも高い”と言われるユーロ本大会まで残り3カ月と少し。前回王者イタリア代表を率いる老将は、王座防衛を宣言する。
「我々は予選通過に値するプレーを見せ、見事にその資格を得た。強調されるべきは、各々が常に自らの仕事を放棄せず、積極的なサッカーを貫いている点だ。この集中力をもっともっと改善したい。チームはまだまだ発展途上だ」
「私にはイタリア代表を強くする責任があり、現状、満足できるものなどほとんどない。それはなぜか? 目標がユーロ連覇とW杯優勝だからだ。これは全イタリア国民の期待であり、過去の偉大な歴史がそれを欲しているのだ」
「イングランド、フランス、スペイン、ドイツ…強敵だらけだが、我々だって彼らのレベルに劣っているわけではない。しかし、イングランドを20分間凌駕するだけでは駄目だ。90分間良いプレーをして初めて勝るのだ」
欧州制覇への覚悟を滲ませるスパレッティ監督。その一方、一部の主力選手が所属クラブで不振に喘いでいる現状を危惧している。
「フェデリコ・キエーザ(ユベントス)にニコロ・ザニオーロ(アストン・ビラ)…私は彼らの困難な状況を注視しているよ。万が一に備え、方向転換して別の解決策を準備しておく必要があるだろう。具体的なことを1つ挙げると、[3-4-2-1]を検討している」
「これは守備的な考え方ではなく、そこにいるプレーヤーの快適さを考慮したシステム案だ。間違ってもボール非保持のときに5バックにする、というものではない。攻撃性を維持しつつ、バランスも必要なのだ」
キエーザらのユーロ本大会落選をちらつかせた一方、現時点では当落選上にいると考えられる、A代表未経験の若手を含む選手たちの名前を掲げ、シーズン後半戦でのアピールを期待していると、遠回しながらもハッパをかけた。
「アレッサンドロ・ボンジョルノ(トリノ/24歳)は本当に頑丈なセンターバックだ。ラウル・ベッラノーバ(トリノ/23歳)とリッカルド・カラフィオーリ(ボローニャ/21歳)も準備ができている。ジオバンニ・ファビアン(ボローニャ/19歳)を選んだらサプライズか?」
「ガエターノ・カストロヴィッリ(フィオレンティーナ/27歳)も最近は再びプレーし始めた。他にもアンドレア・カンビアーゾ(ユベントス/24歳)、トンマーゾ・バルダンツィ(ローマ/20歳)、ロレンツォ・ルッカ(アヤックス/23歳)、マルコ・カルネセッキ(アタランタ/23歳)、ミケーレ・ディ・グレゴリオ(モンツァ/26歳)、イバン・プロベデル(ラツィオ/29歳)…」
「リストに載るのは23名(正しくは26名)だが、大会前のトレーニングはさらに4〜6人を帯同させて少しでも経験を積ませたい。新たな花びらを加える可能性は十分にある」
かなり踏み込んだ内容まで語り、ユーロへのアツい意気込みをのぞかせたスパレッティ監督。これに奮起しない若手はA代表には不要だ。
