ブラジル代表が1日に3月の招集メンバー26名を発表した。
北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)の南米予選で6位に落ち込み、ドリヴァウ・ジュニオール新監督で再建を期すブラジル。今月の活動では欧州遠征で2つの国際親善試合が組まれ、23日にロンドンでイングランド代表と対戦後、マドリードでスペイン代表戦に挑む。
新体制発足後の初陣となる今活動では負傷中のネイマールやアリソン・ベッカーがメンバーから外れた一方で、ジローナをリードするサヴィオをはじめ、パブロ・マイア、ルーカス・ベラウド、ムリロ、ラファエウの5選手が新顔として呼ばれている。
また、ルーカス・パケタが復帰。リシャルリソンはケガが明らかになっているが、このメンバーに名を連ねている。

未来の日本代表候補が活躍を見せている。
ポルトガル国内のカップ戦であるアリアンツ・カップのグループステージグループE、ポルティモネンセvsジル・ヴィセンテが行われ、0-3でジル・ヴィセンテが勝利を収めた。
ポルティモネンセの中村航輔はフル出場、川﨑修平はメンバー外。ジル・ヴィセンテの藤本寛也は66分までプレーして1得点、新井瑞希はメンバー外となっている。
ジル・ヴィセンテは序盤から幾度も危機を迎えたが、ポストやGKの好セーブもあって無失点でしのぐと、前半終了間際に藤本のシュートがボックス内で相手DFのハンドを誘発。千載一遇のチャンスを得た。
だが、ここで立ちはだかったのがGK中村。フラン・ナバーロのキックを完璧に読み切り、左隅へのシュートを見事に防ぐと、セカンドボールへもいち早く反応し、相手のファウルもあってポルティモネンセは失点を免れた。
チャンスを逸したジル・ヴィセンテだったが、直後にCKからルーカス・クーニャがヘディングでネットを揺らすと、63分には藤本が決める。
ペナルティアーク左でマイナスのパスを受けた藤本は、味方へ預けてボックス内へ侵入。リターンを収めたムリロからボールを引き取るように持ち出し、最後は左足でGK中村の頭上を越す技ありの一発を沈めた。
終盤にはフラン・ナバーロが追加点を挙げ、ジル・ヴィセンテは3-0と快勝。グループステージ突破を決めた。
ノックアウト方式となる21日の準々決勝では、グループAの首位チームと対戦。順当にいけば、ポルトが抜けると目されている。
