1702年に建てられ、1979年からは選手寮として使用されている“ラ・マシア”だが、2011年6月30日をもって閉鎖され、32年間の歴史に幕を閉じていた。
その“ラ・マシア”に歴史上初の出来事が起こった。
それは、女子選手が居住するようになるということ。これまでは男子選手しかいなかった“ラ・マシア”に女子選手が仲間入りすることとなった。
今回入寮したのは、バルセロナの女子チームの選手9名。アルバ・カニョ、ベルタ・ドルトラフィル、クラウディア・リウマロ、ユディト・プホルス、ローラ・コロナド、ルシア・コラレス、マルティナ・フェルナンデス、オナ・バラダッド、メリツェル・フォントだ。
ラ・マシア“ミックス”として生まれ変わった寮には、男子サッカー選手が52名、女子サッカー選手9名、バスケットボール選手17名、ハンドボール選手11名、ローラーホッケー選手9名、フットサル選手8名の106名が住むこととなる。
国籍ではカタルーニャ人が54人、その他のスペイン人が36人、ヨーロッパから8人、アフリカから6人、アメリカから2人となっている。
新たな取り組みをスタートさせるバルセロナ。この先、どう展開していくのかが注目されている。

かつてレアル・マドリーで活躍した元スペイン代表GKのイケル・カシージャス氏(41)が、同性愛者であることを告白した。
カシージャス氏は9日、自身の公式ツイッターを通じて、「あなたが私を尊重してくれることを願っています。私はゲイです」と、同性愛者であることを告白した。
この突然の告白に対して、スペイン代表の同僚であるカルレス・プジョール氏らかつての同僚などが、すぐさま支持を表明している。
カシージャス氏は、2009年からスポーツジャーナリストのサラ・カルボネロさんと交際。2013年に長男のマルティンくん、2016年には次男のルーカスくんと2人の子供を儲けた中で2016年に結婚していた。しかし、2021年3月に両者は離婚を発表していた。
その離婚を発表した際には以下のようなメッセージを発表していた。
「サラも私も、僕らが家族であり、一緒に何年も幸せに満ちた愛を分かち合ってきたことを非常に誇りに思っている。今日、カップルとしての僕らの愛について異なる道を歩むことになるが、これまでと同じように献身的な親であり続けるという素晴らしい仕事を一緒に続けるという意味で、遠く離れた道ではない」
「これは、僕らが相互の合意に基づいて下した、熟考された決定だ。尊敬、愛情、友情は永遠に残る。僕らの優先事項は、愛情と歩み寄りを通じて、子供たちの幸福と教育を分かち合い、子供たちを守ることだ。安定した健康的な環境で育てたい」
「これらの言葉で、この変化の瞬間に僕らのプライバシーを尊重していただきますようお願いしたい。これらは、当面および将来的に僕らが発する唯一の公式の言葉になります。ご理解いただきありがとうございます」
カシージャス氏は1999-2000シーズンにマドリーの下部組織からトップチームデビュー。以降、在籍16シーズンで公式戦通算725試に出場し、5度のラ・リーガ制覇や3度のチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)優勝など、18ものタイトル獲得に貢献。
その後、2015年夏にポルトへ活躍の場を移すと、在籍4シーズンで公式戦156試合に出場。2度のリーグ制覇など、ここでもタイトル獲得に貢献した。
また、スペイン代表ではGKとして最多、全体でも歴代2位なる通算167試合に出場。守護神として2010年南アフリカ・ワールドカップ、ユーロ2008、ユーロ2012の連覇を果たしていた。
しかし、2020年に練習中に心臓発作を起こしたこともあり、健康上の問題を理由に現役引退を発表していた。
昨今では世界的にLGBTに対する理解も進む、フットボール界においても自身の性自認及び性的指向を公表するケースが増えているが、カシージャス氏は同性愛者であることを公表した史上最も有名な男性フットボーラーの一人となった。

『アス』によると、今回カシージャス氏のツイッターアカウントが乗っ取りにあった可能性は低く、同氏が一連の熱愛報道にフラストレーションを募らせた末に皮肉を込めた意味合いで前述の投稿を行った可能性が高いとみている。
また、この投稿に反応したスペイン代表の元同僚であるカルレス・プジョール氏は、「今こそ、僕らの話をするときが来た」との返信を行っていたが、これに関してはカシージャス氏の事情を理解していた上での反応だと推測している。
現時点で『アス』の報道が事実かは不明だが、カシージャス氏は世界的に大きな反響があった当該投稿を削除している。
仮に、前述の告白が『アス』の指摘通りの意図で行われたものであるとすれば、世界中で自身の性自認及び性的指向に悩む人々を愚弄する卑劣な振る舞いとして大きな批判は避けられない。
そのため、カシージャス氏は今回の投稿、それを削除した意図に関して今後説明を行う必要がありそうだ。

バルセロナで活躍した元スペイン代表DFカルレス・プジョール氏が、自身の投稿を謝罪した。
プジョール氏が謝罪しているのは、9日に起きたとある事件に関わる自身のツイッターでの投稿だった。
9日、レアル・マドリーやポルトで活躍した元スペイン代表GKイケル・カシージャス氏がツイッターで「あなたが私を尊重してくれることを願っています。私はゲイです」と投稿した。
現役は引退したものの、元トップ選手の突然の告白には世界中のサッカー関係者が驚く事態となり、勇気ある告白を称える声も多く寄せられた。
カシージャス氏は、2009年からスポーツジャーナリストのサラ・カルボネロさんと交際。2013年に長男のマルティンくん、2016年には次男のルーカスくんと2人の子供を儲けた中で2016年に結婚していた。しかし、2021年3月に両者は離婚を発表していた。
そのこともあり、大きな反響を呼んだ投稿だったが、その後に削除。「アカウントがハッキングされました。幸いなことに今はすべて順調です。すべてのフォロワーに謝罪します。そしてもちろん、LGBTコミュニティにも謝罪します」と、ツイッターのアカウントがハッキングされ、自身の知らないところでの投稿が行われていたとし、謝罪していた。
真相は闇の中ではあるが、プジョール氏は最初の投稿の段階で「今こそ、僕らの話をするときが来た」とリアクション。カシージャス氏の投稿を茶化す形となっていたが、その件について改めて謝罪し、不適切だったと認めた。

バルセロナのスペイン代表MFペドリが興味深いコメントを残して話題となっている。
バルセロナの中盤に君臨していたペドリだが、今シーズンはケガに悩まされることに。開幕直後にハムストリングを負傷して2カ月ほど離脱すると、現在も筋肉の問題を抱えており、2023年最終戦のアルメリア戦を欠場していた。
そのペドリは、有名配信者のイバイ・ラノス氏のTwitchチャンネルに登場。様々なインタビューに答えた。スペイン『アス』が伝えた。
現在のケガについては「いつ戻れるか分からない。日程は決まっていないけど、すぐに戻りたいと思っている」とコメント。復帰時期こそ不明だが、早く戻りたい気持ちがあるという。
また「今はプジョールのアドバイスに従い、ピラティスをやっていて、食生活も変えた」と、クラブのレジェンドであるカルレス・プジョール氏のアドバイスに従っているとのこと。「大変な時期を過ごしているけど、状態は良いよ。みんなが色々言っているから、精神的に大変だよ」と明かした。
そのペドリは自身の夢について「ワールドカップかチャンピオンズリーグで優勝することだ」とコメント。「僕はそれが実行可能だと思っているよ。両方ともね」と語り、2つのビッグタイトルを掲げられると感じているようだ。
21歳のペドリだが、現在のチームにはさらに若い選手も加わっている。16歳でデビューしたスペイン代表FWラミン・ヤマルについては「16歳の彼がやっていることは普通ではないよ」とコメント。自身も17歳でデビューしたが「僕はコロナ禍だったし、スタンドに観客がいない状態で1年を過ごしたんだ」とし、周りから受けるプレッシャーの違いがあると語った。
ペドリが一番好きな選手は、カンテラの大先輩でもある元スペイン代表MFアンドレス・イニエスタ(エミレーツ・クラブ)とのこと。「これまでで一番好きな選手だ。僕が最も注目していたものだよ」と語り、「父は僕にラウドルップを見るように言ったけど、僕の目にはアンドレスが見えていた」と語り、ヴィッセル神戸でもプレーしたイニエスタを目指していたという。
チームに貢献できない時期が増えているペドリだが、チームも現在4位。今冬の補強も噂されているが、意外な人物の名前を挙げている。
「僕ならハーランドと契約するよ。彼はサイボーグだ。そして若い。残念ながら、レヴァンドフスキは60歳になるまでプレーすることはないだろうからね」
チームの得点源であるポーランド代表FWロベルト・レヴァンドフスキも35歳。マンチェスター・シティでゴールを量産するノルウェー代表FWアーリング・ハーランドをチームに迎えたいと願望を語った。
