元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのDFアクセル・トゥアンゼベ(26)が、DRコンゴ代表でのプレーを決断した。イギリス『サン』が伝えている。

ユナイテッドアカデミー出身のトゥアンゼベ。2017年1月にファーストチームデビューを飾ると、昨シーズン限りでチームを離れるまで公式戦37試合に出場。センターバックと右サイドバックを主戦場とするDFは、アストン・ビラやナポリへのレンタル移籍も経験していた。

昨夏、フリートランスファーで加入したチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のイプスウィッチ・タウンでは、プレミアリーグ昇格争いにおいて3位に躍進するチームにおいてリーグ戦11試合に出場している。

DRコンゴ生まれもイングランドで育ったトゥアンゼベは、これまでU-19～U-21までイングランド代表としてプレーしてきたが、この度生まれ故郷でのプレーを決断。同国代表のユニフォームを掲げてセバスチャン・デサブル監督と共に記念撮影する姿が確認されている。

そのため、今年6月に行われる2026年北中米ワールドカップのアフリカ予選でDRコンゴ代表デビューを飾ることになりそうだ。
