マグワイアへの野次に母親が嫌悪感「まったく容認できない」

イングランド代表DFハリー・マグワイアに批判的な意見が飛び交い続けるなか、その母親が不当性を主張した。イギリス『マンチェスター・イブニング・ニュース』が報じている。

昨季から所属先のマンチェスター・ユナイテッドでサブに成り下がるものの、イングランド代表ではガレス・サウスゲイト監督からの信頼が揺らがず、招集され続けるマグワイア。今月の活動にも名を連ねた。

その活動中の2試合にもそれぞれ出場し、12日に行われたスコットランド代表とのフレンドリーマッチではハーフタイム明けからピッチに。だが、ボールに絡むたびにスタンドの一部から野次が飛んだ。

試合後のサウスゲイト監督からはその野次に嫌悪感を示すコメントが発せられたが、選手の母親であるゾーイ・マグワイアさんもSNSを介して声を上げている。

「母として、息子が一部のファンや評論家、メディアから受ける否定的かつ、罵倒的なレベルのコメントを目にするのは不名誉。クラブや国のために一生懸命に働く人であろうとなかろうと、どんな人生を歩んでいようが、まったく容認できない」

「私はいつものようにスタンドにいたが、何もないところであのようなことが起きるのは受け入れがたいものがあった。フットボールの世界では浮き沈みがあって、ポジティブなこともネガティブなこともあるが、ハリーが受けた仕打ちはフットボールの域をはるかに超えている」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
