クロアチア代表FWリヴァヤ、14歳年上妻との結婚で掴んだW杯初ゴール

クロアチア代表FWマルコ・リヴァヤは、カタールW杯で活躍するまでに前途多難なプロキャリアを歩んできたようだ。

リヴァヤは28日に行われたグループF第3節のカナダ戦にスタメン出場。クロアチア代表は開始早々に先制を許して苦しいスタートとなったが、44分にリヴァヤが逆転ゴールを決め、最終的には4-1で大勝を収めている。

殊勲の決勝ゴールを挙げたリヴァヤだが、イタリア『カルチョメルカート』は、29歳のストライカーがW杯初ゴールを決めるまでの道のりに注目。度重なる素行不良が目立った若き日にスポットライトを当てている。

若くして注目を浴びたリヴァヤは18歳でインテルに加入。ファーストチームでも数試合起用されたが、レンタル先でのプレーがほとんどで、2年後に共同保有という形でアタランタへ移籍することに。ここでキャリアが下降し始める。

アタランタではチームメイトの顔面を殴るという愚行に始まり、試合でブーイングを浴びた翌日、ファンらを「ろくでなしのイタリア人」と挑発。結局、1年後にチームを去ったが、以降は各国を転々とし、主審を押し倒して5試合の出場停止を喰らったり、相手選手の胸に飛び蹴りしたりと、落ち着きを見せる気配はなかったという。

転機となったのは14歳年上の妻との結婚。クロアチア人モデルの妻との間には2人の子供がおり、以前はナイトクラブ通いだったリヴァヤの私生活が、結婚を境に大きく改善されたとのことだ。

結婚後の昨年2月には母国のハイドゥク・スプリトへと移籍し、通算78試合で50ゴール。国内屈指の点取り屋となったが、2児のパパとなり、一家の長となったことで、W杯のメンバー入りという栄誉を掴んだようだ。

「悔しさが大きい」ビッグセーブで貢献し続けたGK権田修一、ベスト8に必要なもの「チェンジではなくアップデート」
