ダイアーがW杯のアルコール販売禁止に言及「お酒がなくても楽しませて見せる」

アルコールの販売が禁止となったカタール・ワールドカップについて、イングランド代表のDFエリック・ダイアーが主観を述べた。

いよいよ開幕するカタールW杯。全世界で50億人以上の人々が視聴すると言われる世界最大規模の大イベントが遂に幕を開ける。

ただ、カタールという地での開催を巡っては癒着や賄賂、人権問題に晒されており、FIFAのジャンニ・インファンティーノ会長が火消しに走っている状況だ。

さらにここに来て、以前から議論されていたアルコール販売が中止されることが大会本部から確認された。

イスラム教徒が多いカタールでは、アルコールは違法ではないものの、公共の場での販売や摂取は基本的に禁止されている。

今回のW杯は、その点を加味しながらアルコール販売を許可する方向で話が進んでいたが、開幕直前にしてスタジアム内での販売及び摂取は全面的に禁止となった。

これにコメントを求められたダイアーは、お酒の有無にかかわらず、ファンが満足できるかどうかは、選手たちのプレー次第だと主張した。

「何よりもまず、お酒がなくても楽しめると僕は思う。そう言っておくことが大事だよね。それとアーロン(ラムズデール)が言ったように、ファンが楽しめられるかどうかは、ピッチ上での戦う僕ら次第なんだ」

「僕はいつも試合に出るたびにそう考えてるよ。スタンドの雰囲気は僕らがどのようにプレーするかによって変わってくる。大会に出るチームはエキサイティングなサッカーをしてくれるはずだ。それがスタジアムを素晴らしい雰囲気にするんだ」

1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。
