イングランド代表DFハリー・マグワイアの父親と代理人が、サポーターによる暴動に巻き込まれて負傷した。

11日にウェンブリー・スタジアムで行われたユーロ2020の決勝でイタリア代表と対戦したイングランド代表。PK戦の末に悲願の優勝を逃したが、その試合の前にはチケットを持っていない自国のサポーターが警備を強行突破してスタジアムに侵入する事件が起き、80人以上が逮捕される事態となった。

そんな中、マグワイアの父と代理人が暴動に巻き込まれ、特に父親は肋骨2本を骨折する重傷の可能性があるという。

イギリス『サン』のインタビューに答えたマグワイアは、暴徒化したサポーターたちの映像にショックを受けており、完全に誤った行為だと語った。

「僕の父は暴動の中にいた。多くのことを話したわけじゃないけど、僕の子供たちが試合に行かなくてよかったと思っているよ」

「父は怖かったと言っていた。誰にもサッカーの試合であんな経験をして欲しくない」

「たくさんの映像を見て、家族と話をしたんだ。最も苦しんだのは父と代理人だったよ」

「ウェンブリーでの経験はいつも壮大なもので、普段は素晴らしい人々とファンで溢れている。しかし、今回は決勝戦ということもあって皆が圧倒されてしまったね。一部の人の行動は完全に間違っていた」

また、マグワイアは人々がこの事件から学び、繰り返されることがないようにしたいと語った。

「父はいつも僕を応援して試合を観に来てくれるけど、これからはもっと周囲を警戒するだろう。意識を持って、この騒動から学ばなければならない」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
