アーセナルの下部組織出身のメイトランド=ナイルズは2017年7月にファーストチームへ昇格。左右のサイドバックやウイングバックでプレー可能なユーティリティ性を持ち、同クラブでの公式戦出場は104試合を数える。今季もプレミアリーグとコミュニティ・シールドのリバプール戦、EFLカップのレスター・シティ戦など大一番でフル出場しており、ミケル・アルテタ監督からの信頼がうかがえる。
そんなナイルズに現在ユナイテッドから触手が伸びてきている模様。ドイツ『Sport1』の記者フロリアン・プレッテンベルク氏によれば、すでに交渉は大詰めを迎えており、近日中に公式発表があると見込まれている。移籍金は2200万ユーロ(約24億7600万円)にボーナスを加えたものになるという。
以前のイギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』の情報によると、同選手にはウォルバーハンプトンも獲得を試みたが、アーセナルはその1650万ユーロのオファーを拒否。少なくとも2200万ユーロを求めていると伝えられていたが、今回の報道通りならば、ユナイテッドはアーセナルの希望を満たしていることになる。

「後悔が1つある」カントナが“カンフーキック”事件を回顧「もっと強く蹴っていれば…」

香川真司がユナイテッド退団の転機を明らかに 「ディ・マリアとファルカオがやって来て…」
