2013年にバルセロナに移籍するまで、サントスで公式戦134試合70ゴール35アシストを記録したネイマールだが、中でも見事だったのが、2012年10月17日に行われたブラジル・セリエA第31節のアトレチコ・ミネイロ戦でのゴールだ。
この試合で2トップの一角として先発したネイマールは11分、味方からのパスを受けると相手DFを嘲笑うようなトラップで股抜きをかまし反転、潰しに来たCBのスライディングもかわすと、一気にスピードを上げボックス内へと向かう。カバーに来たDFも切り返しでかわすと、最後はシュートフェイントから相手GKの逆を突くシュートでゴールネットを揺らした。
この試合には当時アトレチコ・ミネイロに所属していた元ブラジル代表FWロナウジーニョ氏や先日まで名古屋グランパスに在籍した元ブラジル代表FWジョーも出場しており、彼らの眼前で若き日のネイマールがその実力を示したゴールだった。

「メッシがかつて無いほど泣いた」スアレスが自身のバルサ退団時のエピソードを告白「レオから僕を引き離すことに執着した」
