リーグ戦再開が決定しているポルトガル・プリメイラリーガ。しかし、あるクラブにとっては、大きな困難が待ち受けていた。ポルトガル・プリメイラリーガは、6月4日からリーグ戦を再開すると発表した。
新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)の感染拡大を受けてリーグ戦がストップしていたものの、ヨーロッパではドイツのブンデスリーガが今週末から再開。ポルトガルも続きたい考えを持っている。
しかし、サンタ・クララはこの決定で大きな足かせをつけられることとなってしまった。
サンタ・クララの本拠地は、アゾレス諸島のポンタ・デルガタにある。アゾレス諸島は、大西洋の中央部に位置し、本土からは約850マイル(1368km)離れている。
サンタ・クララは、ポルトガルサッカー連盟の本部でホームゲームを行うことを発表。ホームゲームながら、島から本部まで892マイル(約1435km)の移動を強いられることとなってしまった。飛行機ではおよそ2時間25分の移動となる。
クラブは「どこでプレーしても、常にアゾレス諸島の人々を心に抱き、アゾレス諸島の旗を胸につけ、よりポジティブなポルトガルのサッカーを見せます」と意気込んでいる。
なお、サンタ・クララの残りのホームゲームは5試合となっている。

C・ロナウド「引退する。100%だ」、カタールW杯と引退について言及「40歳で終わりたい」
