8日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選のグループI第6節、ポーランド代表vsイングランド代表は前半終了時に小競り合いがあった。

予選5戦全勝でグループ首位に立つイングランドが、5ポイント差で2位に位置するポーランドのホームに乗り込んだグループIの頂上決戦は、0-0のまま前半終了間際にポーランドがFKを獲得する。

ここで、イングランドのDFカイル・ウォーカーとポーランドのDFカミル・グリクが言い合うと、グリクがウォーカーの喉あたりの皮膚をつまむ場面があった。ウォーカーはこれに応じず、この行為は主審の目の前であったものの特にお咎めなしでFKが行われ、その後前半終了の笛が吹かれた。

すると、今度はグリクがFKの場面で相手のファウルがあったとして主審に主張する。これをきっかけにイングランドのDFハリー・マグワイアとグリクの言い争いに発展し、両軍の選手が入り乱れる事態に。しばらくの小競り合いがあった後、ロッカールームに戻ろうとしたグリクが呼び戻され、マグワイアとグリクの2人にイエローカードが提示された。

イギリス『サン』によると、この件はすでにFAに報告されているとイングランドのFWハリー・ケインのコメントを伝えている。

「ハーフタイムの直前に事件があり、FAに報告された。彼らが慎重に調査している、まずはそれからだ」

「聞いたところではすでにそれが行われているが、まだ言われていない。僕たちは映像をみて、彼らと話す機会がなかった」

イングランドのガレス・サウスゲイト監督も同様のコメントを残している。

「どんなことが起きたのかを把握している。報告があるので、何が起こったのかをもう少し知る必要がある」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

「可愛い!」ペガサスに乗って宙を舞うイングランド代表FWサカの衝撃写真が話題沸騰「この男を愛さないわけにはいかない」

イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」
