欧州サッカー連盟(UEFA)実行委員会は10日、ユーロ2028をイギリスとアイルランドの共同で、ユーロ2032をイタリアとトルコの共同で開催することを発表した。
イギリスとアイルランドは当初、2030年ワールドカップの招致を目指していたが、ユーロ2028に照準を変更し、この度招致が成功した格好だ。
現在の計画では開幕戦をウェールズのミレニアム・スタジアムで行い、決勝をロンドンのウェンブリーで行う予定とのこと。
アイルランド、北アイルランド、ウェールズでメジャー大会が開催されるのは初めてとなる。
なお、予選に関しては5カ国(イングランド、ウェールズ、スコットランド、北アイルランド、アイルランド)が参加し、突破できなかったチームの中で2枠が本戦への出場権を得られると、イギリス『タイムズ』は報じている。3カ国以上が予選を突破できなかった場合に関しての決定方法は検討している模様だ。

イングランド代表は1日、トーマス・トゥヘル監督(51)の正式就任を知らせた。
イングランドサッカー協会(FA)は2024年10月、トゥヘル監督をイングランド代表新指揮官に任命したと発表。史上3人目の外国人監督を招へいし、職務開始は2025年1月1日となっていた。

2024年は1181試合の国際試合が行われた中、11月からここまでの間には21試合のみが開催。そのため、ほとんどの順位に変動が起こらなかった。

レクサムは21日、元イングランド代表GKベン・フォスター(40)の現役引退を発表した。 2022年9月にキャリアを一時停止したフォスター。2023年3月には、ハリウッド俳優のライアン・レイノルズが所有するレクサムへ加入すると、ナショナルリーグ(イングランド5部)で8試合に出場。優勝を争うチームを支え、見事にEFLリーグ2(イングランド4部)に昇格していた。 フォスターは今シーズンもプレーを続けることとなり、リーグ2では開幕から4試合に出場。しかし、チームは1勝2分け3敗という出だしに。ただ、4試合で13失点と守備が崩壊していた。 19日に行われた第4節のスウィンドン・タウン戦では、5-5という壮絶な打ち合いに。後半アディショナルタイムに2点を奪ってなんとか追いついたが、苦しい試合となっていた。 レクサムの声明によれば、その試合後にフォスターがフィル・パーキンソン監督と話し合いをしたとのこと。引退を決断したことを伝えられたという。 「正直なところ、今シーズンのパフォーマンスは自分に求めるレベルに達しておらず、今が引退するのに適切な時期だと感じている」 「この決断を下す際に最優先に考えたのは、僕にとってだけでなく、クラブにとっても何が最善なのかということだった。この決断により、クラブは期限が閉まる前に選択肢を評価するあらゆる機会を得ることができた」 「レクサむはいつも僕の心の中で特別な場所であり続けるだろう」 フォスターは自身のパフォーマンスに限界を感じて引退を決断。それを伝えられたパーキンソン監督もクラブを通じてコメントしている。 「ベンはレクサムにいる間、プロフェッショナルとして模範を示し、我々が彼に求めたことは全てやってくれた」 「決断を下すには、偉大な人間と、このフットボールクラブを本当に理解し、決断のタイミングを計る人間が必要だ」 「昨シーズンのノッツ・カウンティ戦での昇格に貢献してくれたあの素晴らしいPKセーブを遥かに超えた彼の貢献に感謝するとき、私はみんなを代表して言っていると確信している」 「レクサムはベン・フォスターを迎えるにはより良い場所だった」 フォスターはストーク・シティでキャリアをスタート、下部リーグへのレンタル移籍を繰り返した中、2005年1月にはレンタルでレクサムに加入していた。 2005年7月、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドへと完全移籍、ワトフォードへのレンタル移籍を経て復帰。2010年7月にバーミンガム・シティへと完全移籍した。 その後、WBAへとレンタル移籍したのちに完全移籍。2018年にワトフォードに加入すると、2022年7月に一度キャリアをストップ。半年後にレクサムで復帰していた。 最もプレーしたクラブはWBAで公式戦223試合に出場。ワトフォードでは207試合に出場している。プレミアリーグでは390試合に出場していた。 2007年2月にはイングランド代表デビューを果たし、8試合に出場。2014年のブラジル・ワールドカップ(W杯)ではコスタリカ代表戦でフル出場し、W杯デビューを果たしていた。 2023.08.21 22:05 Mon

頭部同士が激しく激突、動けず12分間も治療…担架で運ばれたイングランド女子代表DFにはスタンドから拍手

オーストラリア代表がマンC保有の21歳MFを失う? 豪代表で2試合出場も公式戦歴なく多重国籍、10月落選で浮かび上がった“鞍替え”希望

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!
